A Mostly Center-Right Place For Those With Irritable Obama Syndrome and Diversity Fatigue

Sunday Soliloquy: Black Bird Singing April 11, 2010

Someday inevitably all of the Beatles will be gone and buried but the their songs will remain a treasure of my life.  My favorite Beatle is Paul McCartney. I love his song writing and I can tell the difference between who wrote what in a “Lennon/McCartney” song.  John Lennon was a great musician but he was defiant- a rebel.  He had an almost abusive anger about him which was apparent even in his more tranquil and reflective songs such as Imagine.    “Now is the time to act”  is the message Lennon wanted to convey.  The world is a barren war filled place and we are at its mercy.

“I’m just sitting here doing time,
I’m just sitting here watching the wheels go round and round–“John Lennon

Paul McCartney on the other hand gives me a feeling of sadness but hope.  Yes he acknowledges that life is about loss but he is able to recognize that the loss is something that we should embrace as a natural order.  In that there is beauty.  A trail of comfort can be seen in McCartney songs. He is a healer if not physically then emotionally.  His album Flaming Pie was written shortly before his first wife  Linda, died of cancer.  One of the tracks “Willow”  really moves me. McCartney  wrote this as a tribute to Maureen Starkey, Ringo Starr’s first wife who died of cancer in 1994.

There are many things to admire in his use of tone.  Respect for the power of loss and a sense of control in succumbing to it.

Hey Jude leaves me feeling the same.  Written as a comforting verse for small Julian Lennon, the lyrics begin with a poignancy but ends in victory…Take a sad song and make it better.  John loved Yoko but it was Julian who was left behind without a father.  Paul captured the loss of a young boy touched by divorce and turned it into a lyrical masterpiece.

So why I am writing about the Beatles songs on a political blog?   The reason I need music is to cope.  Something has to give me hope and strength to carry on through these barren times. The “historic moment” was not enough for me.  It never was.  Lately I have been taking a much needed break from writing.  I did not want to contribute anything negative to an already polarizing political climate.  Mother always said if you have nothing nice to say…

Instead I decided to digest in silence my fat healthcare bill meal that was shoved down my throat.  Obama and the Democrats were rushing ahead with their gloating while actual people were still suffering.   One afternoon,  I was riding the bus home from the Art Institute of Chicago.  My arms were carrying two shopping bags of gift shop goodies I caught on a 60% off sale.  Posters of old Chicago and some  decorative Japanese bowls.  Nothing I really needed, they just looked pretty and I desperately needed some pretty in my life again.   The morning had been chilly but by 3:00PM, my trench coat and tights were itchy from the 68 degree breeze.  For some reason my bus card was rejected.  I knew I had put ten dollars on it.  Kindly, as I was about to dig in the abyss of my Marc Jacobs purse,  the bus woman told me to sit down and forget about it.  She must have thought I looked pathetic with all of my bags.   I was.  Not a young girl anymore, aching feet and ready to go home.   As we moved down State Street, I shut my eyes while the sun was shining on my face.  Mother and I used to take this bus I thought.  So long ago when there was no Obama or iPods,  just us…

My public moment of solitude was interrupted by two aged men speaking loudly about Chicago politics.  Both were decidedly suspicious of everything- as they should be in Chicago.  Gossipy tones plagued the bus now as the two “magpies”  began a Heckle and Jeckel esque conversation about Obama.  They supported him, that much I could tell. Jesus nearly everyone in Chicago did but me.  As one man dug a thermos out of his bag and begin to drink, the other gave his monologue on political theory and Obama.  Politics is a cesspool and Obama is untainted.

Drinking, magpie #2 just nodded: He is too classy for that Daley shit.

Magpie #1:  He is too smart for that…Keep your friends close but your enemies closer…that is the Obama way.

Magpie#2:  (Wiping some liquid from his mouth with the back of his hand)  Like with his cabinet.  That Hillary chick.  You know put her in the cabinet that way you can watch her…watch what she is doing… control the woman so she don’t say or do nothing to hurt you later.  She ain’t running for nothing now ’cause she too busy with that secretary post.

Magpie#1: (nodding, thin shirt soaked with sweat at the armpits) Yep like I said keep your enemies close.

Afrocity: (rolls eyes).

My bus stop could not have come soon enough.  So tired of Obamabots and their verbal Kool Aid droppings.  Where is my Ipod?  Ugh. One of the magpies smiled at me as I went to the exit door.  “Hi sweetie,” he said.

I sneered.  Get real Mr. Delusional.  I am not attracted to you in this dimension or any other and Hillary is not an enemy of Barack Obama.  He is an enemy of us.  He is an enemy of women… of the American way and everything our forefathers stood for.   He is the cesspool.

Once in my apartment, my non-partisan cat greeted me at the door.  “Meow”

I was his government and he wanted to be fed.  I was fine with the arrangement.  He paid his taxes in affection and warmth for my feet at night.  I will pay for his food and healthcare.

Reaching for the cat’s  special $1.89 a can grain free, venison cat food (because he is a diabetic),  I wondered if my cat were under Obamacare and not Afrocity-care would he be afforded the luxury of premium cat food? Duck, venison, pheasant, along with a raw diet.   The can was opened and the cat knew I would deliver the goods.  I hummed “Blackbird Singing in the Dead of Night”

Take these broken wings and learn to fly

The cat hovered over the dish as I clopped in a hunk of wet venison.  He brushed against my  hand and began to devour his meal.  The cat and I…A symbiotic relationship between two animals.  Just like  Obama wants it between Americans and the Federal Government.

Welcome To Co-Dependants Anonymous…For Obama Supporters October 23, 2009

obama-marieantoinette2Last night an acquaintance of mine says to me ” I voted for Barack Obama because he had a plan. With John McCain I did not see a plan.”

While I do not agree with his statement, I have come to terms with the idea that many people saw something in Barack Obama that apparently I and 46% of other voters did not. I am still trying to understand what they saw exactly.

Obama vs. The President He Said He’d Be

By Tom Bevan

During the campaign Barack Obama vowed he would be a different kind of leader who would move America beyond the “smallness of our politics.” That inspired promise was not an insignificant part of why he was elected last November.

In his inaugural address Obama told us that “the time has come to set aside childish things.” He promised to bring “an end to the petty grievances and false promises, the recriminations and worn out dogmas, that for far too long have strangled our politics.”

Not only has President Obama failed to live up to those promises so far, it appears that on more than a number of occasions he’s made a conscious decision to break them.

In the first nine months in office President Obama and/or members of his administration have accused doctors of performing unnecessary medical procedures for profit; demonized bond holders as “speculators;” produced a report suggesting military veterans are prone to becoming right wing extremists; attacked insurance companies and threatened them with legislative retribution; ridiculed talk show hosts and political commentators by name from the White House podium; dismissed and demeaned protesters and town hall attendees as either unauthentic or fringe characters; maligned a white police officer for arresting a black man without knowing the facts of the case; launched an orchestrated campaign to marginalize the country’s biggest pro-business group; and publicly declared war on a news organization.

Twice in the last week, perhaps carried away by the campaign atmosphere, President Obama ramped up the use of the kind of partisan rhetoric that will drive Americans further apart; once in San Francisco at a DNC fundraiser and once last night at a rally for Jon Corzine.

As a result of this strategy, President Obama’s approval rating has fallen consistently since taking office while Americans’ disapproval of the way he’s handled his job has more than doubled and is now at an all time high of 44 percent. On Wednesday Gallup reported that the 9-point drop in Obama’s approval rating between July and September was the third most precipitous decline in Presidential history and the worst since 1953.

"Up Up And Away" from Hope N' Change Cartoons by Stilton Jarlsberg.

Words are just words. Promises fall hollow for me when one does not have the experience or record to back it up.

At an early an early age, I learned to judge people by their actions and not by their words. I mention this because there was a time when I was like my mother and did not. As a girl, I felt sick at the prospect of watching her get screwed over again and again by the same people who promised a lot but delivered nothing.

The lesson: If they stood you up three times last year, they will probably stand you six more times this year.

Unfortunately, I had to apply my own rule to my mother. Her fatal character flaw was laziness and a lack of motivation, coupled ironically with a sense of entitlement. The government was there to take care of us. That was our right as African Americans. We deserved it and besides the government gets oodles of money from the taxes of rich folks like Republicans.  Her philosophy of course was quite evident in her record. Years knowing my mother– 38. Years she held a job during that time 8.2,  and I am being generous. Based on that record of 30 years without working, I gave up hoping she would become gainfully employed by my 26th year. It was just not in her. When did she finally get a job? In 1994 when she lived in the state of Texas, a state that is as red as they come… A state that does not bullshit when it comes to lazy people on government assistance.

Texas saw my mother for what she was an able-bodied lazy person, fat off years of government aid from Illinois.

On a weaned government diet, they afforded her a stipend of $69 dollars a month in food stamps with zero cash money. Within several months, she fell homeless and came to live with me in my college dorm. Luckily, I had no roommate and would sneak her in. I tolerated her for an entire summer while I went to school taking Japanese, Constitutional Law and several other ass kicking classes. I also worked two jobs at Houston law firms making $10 an hour at each, far above the minimum wage. Mother’s initial refusal to look for work angered me but I hoped she would “change”.

michelle shorts

Drowning quickly, my grades began to suffer as well as my friendships. I did not date for fear of letting out ‘”the secret”. How could I bring a potential paramour to my dorm room when my mother lived there with me in a 100 square foot space and a single bed with extra long sheets? I dropped my sorority which was my only source of leadership opportunity and networking.  Afrocity was dying. Mother loved me and wanted me to go to law school but failed to see that she was destroying me with her dependency.

missbarackomericaWas I helping my mother by helping her?

Not really.

In fact she became more dependent upon me. She refused to leave my room for fresh air or to give me space and time with friends my own age. This was obviously a turning point in our relationship for me. I was an enabler and mother needed tough love. Taking my savings, I began to look for an apartment for her. Two weeks later, I put her in a taxicab and sent her on her way. She had a one bedroom apartment, a fridge full of food, and two months rent paid in advance.

For three peaceful months, I heard not a peep from mother. The new fall semester of my senior year in college was upon me. I had dreams of moving to Japan in order to hone my language skills, possibly grad school afterward. My over-taxed exhausting summer was over, or so it seemed.  I got a phone call one night. It was mom.

“I lost the apartment and now I am in a homeless shelter,” she sounded pitiful, defeated, helpless…again.

Frozen with fear, I hung up the phone on her and ignored her calls for 4 months. Each abandoned call made me shudder with guilt. How could I do this to my mother?

The next time I spoke with her she had another apartment and a job in a retail stock room. For the first time in nearly 15 years my mother was working and not drawing a government or “Bank of Afrocity” check.

In those years, I was upset with myself for not seeing my mother as she was. Would she lose the job again? Yes in three years when she transferred to my brother’s bank of kindness and Social Security. After all she was who she was.

And Barack Hussein Obama is who he is.

As you read my words, you may have noticed that there are images of our dear leader in some of his “glorious moments” as seen through the lens of a skeptic. Are we negative? Are we failing to come up with solutions?

Perhaps. However I would say that the questions you really should be asking are of him. You voted for him.

Accepting a person unconditionally requires that you recognize that person’s faults and learn how to tolerate them. How many times have you witnessed a friend with a cheating spouse, a child who has a drug addiction, or a friend who is unreliable? What happens? They continue to see the best in that person while getting taken advantage of.

You may say “Afrocity, that is love.”

And I will answer “That is not love, that is just plain stupid.”

You are not doing that person any favors by viewing them with rose colored glasses (extra strength prescription, bifocals). You see them as they are so they can see themselves in an honest and clear manner

People will often say things to you in life that you want to believe however, your faith in them means nothing unless they are committed to keeping their word.

When it comes to elected officials, rather than falling susceptible to campaign slogans and charismatic speeches. Speeches are a dime a dozen. I liken them to rice bowls.  A clever speech can arouse your emotions and fill you up pretty quickly, yet you are left running out for a hamburger later—you need more substance, more beef.

Learn to stop being an enabler. Criticize them, listen to the arguments of the opposing side. Ask questions, look at their record, call them out for the change they promised but did not deliver on. I do not care what political party they are affiliated with.  Republican, Independent, Green Party, or Democrat– a liar is a liar.

barack-obama-liar

By the year 2012, President Obama’s record should present a pretty accurate picture of what he will and will not do.

Will you enable him by falling yet again for the same empty slogans? The same promises he will not keep? He will tell you that he did not have enough time.  I say but you promised “change” from day one, not year four.

drink upThere are two kinds of voters. The smart voters who know that candidates will say and do anything to get you into the sack. The smart voters scrutinize the notches on the candidates bedpost. The smart voters make decisions based on the present while being informed of the past. The smart voters know the difference between an albatross and an unfortunate acquaintance.

You disliked the policies of George W. Bush? Great so did I.

Does that mean I am voting against John McCain because of it? No. McCain is not Bush. In fact Barack Obama and George W, Bush have more in common.

Are you disappointed in Bill Clinton because he slept with Monica Lewinsky?  Great so am I.  Did I vote for Al Gore in 2000? Yes.

Saturday Toons: The Hope and Change All You Can’t Eat Buffet September 5, 2009

obama grannyHave you ever gone to an “all you can eat buffet” ?

If you have, more than likely you were met at the restaurant door by a beaming hostess willing to give you a nice clean white dinner plate and plastic tumbler for your iced tea.

A smorgasbord of nutritional wealth awaits you.

Depending upon the cuisine, you may have a hanker for those crab rangoons and pad thai chicken; you may go ga ga over the pancakes and sticky buns; graze at the salad offerings.

So many vertically aligned food choices, so little time. Gee this is fun, buffets with bottomless deficits are the stuff liberals are made of.

It is estimated that over 50 million people have passed through the Obama “hope and change” buffet.

Mouthing “Yes we Can” to themselves as they grab that white plate and wait in line for the refreshing leadership they so craved and deserved.  They were getting hungry out there in “Bush Country”. Life was so terrible out there.

With all of the romance of yesteryear’s Camelot, Obama’s supporters want that piece of the pie they were promised.  However, amid all the shining happy liberals holding hands there is a cloud hovering over the hope and change buffet.  Famous for not keeping his promises, President Barack Obama has remarkably made the meal selection process less painstaking.

Nothing truly appetizing lies in the stainless steel food chambers. I see some grease filmed cream of arugula soup, crusty vegetable medley casserole straight from Michelle Obama’s White House garden. The menu shows an abundance of crow. It is safe to assume that the food must be good, the flies seem to think so but why is everyone just standing here?  Suddenly press secretary Robert Gibbs voice is piped in through a loud speaker, interrupting a beautiful rendition of “At Last” by house speaker Nancy Pelosi.

“Ahem, idio- I mean people please walk, don’t run to the buffet. In response to the great demand on President Obama by corporate hacks and lobbyists that he said would have no part in his administration, there may be a few minor delays in the food getting out to you. For ease of selection you all will be getting served a whopping huge plate of nothing.”

Food is getting so low at the hope and change buffet that Obama supporters have resorted to cannibalism. A finger was bit off the hand of a conservative this week and savagely devoured by a rabid moonbat.

Wow, a huge plate of nothing. Now there’s a palate pleaser. Certainly, the road to recovery will be long and hard for the millions crowded ’round the hope and change buffet.  I must say from the looks of complacency, they are all taking this pretty well. Come Oscar time, we are sure to see accolades delved out to the liberals for playing the “patience is a virtue, even tho’ it sucks”  role with such convincing authenticity.

Hey, someone better get Rosie some food she looks pretty hungry.

From the Wall Street Journal:

The Jobless Stimulus

It’s still not too late to redirect $400 billion to business tax cuts.

SEPTEMBER 5, 2009

The recession may be over on Wall Street and Silicon Valley, but on Working Family Avenue it still has a ways to run. That’s the lesson of yesterday’s August jobs report that showed losses of 216,000, which believe it or not is the slowest monthly decline in a year and caused the White House to praise with the faint damn that the “trajectory is in the right direction.” That’s the good news.

On the other hand, the jobless rate popped up to 9.7%, the highest rate in 26 years, from 9.4%, reflecting an increase in the size of the labor force. The main concern we see going forward is the slow pace of new job creation to soak up the 7.4 million workers who have lost jobs since 2007.

There are now 26 million Americans who can’t find a full-time job. Average weekly hours remained at an abysmally low 33.1—which is putting a strain on family budgets. And the jobless rate including so-called discouraged workers, or those who have stopped looking, leapt to 16.8% from 16.3% in July. Meanwhile, the number of Americans working part-time who want full-time work increased by 278,000 to 9.1 million, which as a share of the workforce is larger than at any time since the recession of 1982. These are the workers that employers will tend to hire first as a recovery unfolds, so it is worrisome that this cohort remains so large.

None of this does much for the credibility of the Obama Administration’s stimulus spending plan, which was sold with the promise of a jobless rate this year of “below 8%” if the stimulus were passed. That was off by some three million jobs in a mere seven months. The same economists who fretted in February that $780 billion in stimulus was too small now claim that the $300 billion or so that has been spent has somehow ignited the recovery.

But a tax-cutting stimulus would have provided much more job and economic growth for the buck, and it could even now too. If the Administration really wants to fire up private job creation, how about taking the remaining $400 billion or more and using it to lower business taxes? The unspent stimulus is enough for a two-year down payment on repealing the U.S. corporate income tax, which studies show is a job and wage-increase killer.

Congress could also reconsider its July minimum-wage increase of 70 cents an hour, which almost certainly contributed to the leap in teenage unemployment to 25.5% in August. The rate was 24% in June and 23.8% in July, before the wage hike started to price low-skilled teens looking for jobs out of the workplace. Congress would be wise to suspend the increase until the overall jobless rate falls below 7%.

Of course neither of our proposals is going to happen given the current policy views in Washington, but someone has to speak up for workers who want a job, as opposed to those lucky enough to still have them.

Global Plate Warming buffet while Referencing the "Holy Goran" is a sure way to keep your mind off watching the door for the waiters to bring more food. Hey how did he get that tiurkey leg when you have nothing????

Global Plate Warming buffet while the legendary man bear pig, references the "Holy Goran" is a sure way to keep your mind off watching the door for the waiters to bring more food. Hey how did he get that turkey leg when you have nothing????

At the beginning, I knew that the hope and change buffet was a bunch of baloney. There was a huge amount of illusion going on in the Obama campaign. Illusion leads to disillusionment which hopefully leads to no reelection in 2012. This is a sensitive subject for Obama’s supporters. Afraid to admit they were taken in by the pied piper, they create distractions by charging racism. There is no racism at the hope and change buffet. None of you are being served. You can sit wherever you want, as long as you realize that all will equally get nothing in return for your support. Botch and whine stew is a perennial favorite among liberals. Your dear leader has seen to it that you have plenty of opportunities to enjoy your hoped cooked culinary concoction while pussyfooting around what really matters to you and your family at the same time. President Doubtfire will promise you an eclipse on Christmas day, but I doubt you will ever need to get out your safety glasses.

Whole Foods Devotees Lash Out at CEO

Customers, Angry Over His Health-Care Views, Share Feelings of Betrayal on Web

Washington Post Staff Writer
Wednesday, August 19, 2009

Whole Foods aficionados who assumed the company’s management was as crunchy as the brand are feeling betrayed.

They have stormed Twitter, Facebook and the blogosphere to vent their rage at John Mackey, the chief executive. In an op-ed column in the Wall Street Journal last week, he argued for health-care savings accounts and declared that health care is not an intrinsic right– ideas with a conservative bent, which made Whole Foods’ liberal customer base go ballistic.

They are even talking about a boycott. And who knows? Maybe some will have to rethink shopping at Wal-Mart. Unions once attacked the retailer’s labor and benefits policies, but Wal-Mart has become the nation’s largest purveyor of organic products and recently espoused a position on health-care reform that is widely considered progressive.

What’s wrong with this picture?

“A lot of people have been paying a premium for the Whole Foods brand for years,” said Mark Rosenthal, a playwright living in Massachusetts who founded the Boycott Whole Foods group a few days ago. It has nearly 14,000 members. “A lot of people are sad to look at this corporation and see that it is just like any other, if not worse.”

Whole Foods spokeswoman Libba Letton said that Mackey was expressing personal opinions in the op-ed and that the company has no official position on the issue. Whole Foods has sent letters to customers apologizing for any offense and created a forum on its Web site to discuss the issue.

The angry Whole Foods backlash has also sent a stream of video hatred directed at CEO John Mackey (Warning: you will need a shower and moonbat rabies shot after watching the following footage)

I have a tip...Don't shop there.

I have a tip...Don't shop there. Take the money you would spend there on organic paper products and pay for some poor woman's mammogram.

If they boycott, where will the moonbats shop for edamame and soy based yacht cleaning products? And what do they hope to accomplish? A message that boycotting is a way to hush up anyone such as Mr. Mackey who has an opinion that differs from your own? Perhaps at this moment in history when public dissent of health care reform is framed by liberals around a series of accusations alleging racism, anti-Semitism and any other term that makes one sound like a plain ol’ flea harboring bigot named Bubba, it is inevitable that the rabid  moonbats – would turn on one of their own.  Much slippage in the aisles is going on in the liberal camp, if you get my drift.

Oh BTW and I have used the term Obamacare, so I am officially far, far, far, far to the right.  I was just saying to my possum Wilbur that it sho’ is mighty fine weather we been havin’ up yonder in Chee-caw-go. I think in a short spell, I will take me a walk up to that thare Whole Foods an git me some sasafrass bark and hemp granola.

Honey, Don’t Forget To Use Protection August 14, 2009

From The American Thinker

From The American Thinker

In case you may have noticed, my posts have been rather brief lately. I am away on business so not much time to write.

When I return to my hotel room, I do catch up on the news. At home I know which channel is which. FOX NEWS is the only news I can stomach. Here in a foreign cable channel land, Afrocity is fumbling with the remote control in an attempt to get the hell away from MSNBC. Sometimes I pause to hear Rachel Maddow say something so utterly stupid that I have to watch.  Of course she was covering the town hall meetings from the right wing nose bleed seats. On Wednesday she gave a chilling account of a loon who showed up in New Hampshire with a knife and gun in his truck during Obama’s visit. She then peppers her statements with inflammatory language like “assassination”.  This is what the right is encouraging she implies. We want someone to assasinate Barack Obama.  Shaking my head I flip to the Food Channel. Watching some chef julliene a kiwi fruit is better than watching this junk.

Did you see this headline???

MSNBC’s Ed Schultz Radio Show: Conservatives ‘Want Obama to Get Shot’

Give me a break. Don’t flatter yourselves.

The media will continue to play the race card again, and again and again. Meanwhile George W. Bush was the president who was actually assaulted with deadly footwear during a foreign press conference in 2008. Karl Rove was rescued from a Code Pink citizens arrest while he was on a public stage.

To date has anyone harmed one arugula leaf on Obama’s head??? No spit balls or paper airplanes carrying cyanide powder have flown his way.  Somehow the health care debate has again turned racist.  Call President Obama a socialist and that is equivalent to the “N” word. Accusations of socialism are now racist.  You didn’t say the “N” word but you certainly were thinking it when you called Obama a socialist.

town-hall-meeting

Watch this town hall meeting held Thursday night by Sean Hannity.  Notice how it is mentioned that socialism is a strong word. You should also take notice of the crazy liberal Obamabot on the left.

Overall this was a good discussion. I was proud of Hannity for doing it. He had a fair amount of Obama and McCain supporters. Excluding the crazy woman, everyone seemed to have their heads on straight. It was also nice to see the African Americans in the audience were not drinking the race Kool Aid.  It gave me some hope that citizens are beginning to wise up and open their ears to what Obama is actually saying rather than bobble head nodding at the eloquence of his words.  Is Obama watching any of this? If so, the expats from Kool Aid Mountain had better use some protection against future brainwashing attempts. Something tells me that Barack Obama is not the type that is easy to break up with.

Curator’s Corner: Barack Obama and the History of Kool Aid July 29, 2009

ka23Which came first sweetened or unsweetened Kool Aid? I am not sure because my mother always bought the sweetened kind in the canister. Sugar, being the precious commodity that it was in my home, was far too expensive to use on a powdered drink mix. In fact, I think the Kool Aid in my household was actually Wylers drink mix or Tang.  Regardless, during those days nearly every household on my block was filling up tall plastic tumblers with the green, blue or purple liquid.  Sure we loved it, couldn’t get enough of it. Was it healthy for us? Hell no but who cared? It was sweet, refreshing, cheap, easy to make in an instant and filled our tummies…Just like our 6 month old President Barack Obama.

Did you know that the history behind the Kool Aid and its inventor shares many commonalities with Barack Obama’s ascension to power?

I can just hear my readers murmuring that Afrocity has gone tinfoil on everyone.  I assure you that this is not the case.   Yesterday, I received an email from an Obama supporter who happened to be a Republican for most of his life. I will call him Carl.

Carl is a devout Mormon, a cancer survivor and also a retired military officer. His son also served in the military.  What possessed Carl to vote for Obama is beyond me. Perhaps it was due to the fact that Carl lives in Los Angeles and he was upset with Republican Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. There is a slight possibility that Carl’s recent cancer diagnoses made him fearful of not being able to afford health care- so he turned to the Democrats.  It is true that Carl despises Sen.  John McCain (R-AZ)  and supported Mitt Romney in the 2008 GOP presidential primary.  Okay, I can buy that.

images64koolaidLet’s say that Carl’s  reason for voting Democrat was that he hated John McCain. He felt that McCain was a RINO and did not represent the true conservative movement.  But why then vote for Mitt Romney in the GOP primary and vote for Barack Obama in the general election? BarackObama? It is like he was snorting the same stuff as Colin Powell.

To be fair to Carl, I can attest to the fact that crazier things have happened during the 2008 election season. I voted for Hillary Rodham Clinton in the Democratic presidential primary, only to support John McCain in the general election.   Yes, there is history that in terms of political candidates, voters have switched parties between the primaries and presidential election.

So Carl really is not that different from myself. However, my feelings toward my vote for John McCain today, when contrasted with Carl’s feelings for his Obama vote, are quite opposite.  I would not change my McCain vote if you gave me a million pairs of designer shoes.  In light of events of the past six months, I am proud to say “Don’t blame me. I voted for McCain.”   There is no smell of regret on my person. No purple tinged tongue or jackass hoof prints on my back. No muscle strain from my leg being pulled.  My nose is free of ACORN pollutants.   I made the right choice and I am confident that McCain would have been better for our country than Barack Obama.

This brings me back to Carl’s email. I wish I could post it here but I won’t. Instead, lets just say that Carl is wishing he had cleaned his glasses before he married his Kenyan American, Chicago way, eloquent talking bride.  Carl’s tongue has that purple tinge to it that no amount of brushing will get rid of.  His home smells like regret.

Poor Carl. What did he ever see in Barack Obama that indicated he would have made a great president? You cannot trust a man that makes so much Kool Aid.   Did you know these facts about Edwin Perkins the maker of Kool Aid?  I learned about him through this web page of the Hastings Museum of Natural and Cultural History in Nebraska.

1. Kool Aid  was invented in 1927 by Nebraskan, Edwin Perkins  who was always fascinated by chemistry and enjoyed inventing things.  (Afrocity says: Barack Obama likes to invent things too. Such as phony stories about his mother and father meeting in Selma, Alabama)

2. In high school, Perkins “…sent away for a kit called “How to Become a Manufacturer.” During the following years, Perkins graduated from high school, published a weekly newspaper, did job printing, served as postmaster and set up a mail order business called “Perkins Products Co” to market the numerous products he had invented.” ( Afrocity says: Sounds like a community organizer to me.)

3.  Perkins also developed a remedy to kick the tobacco habit called “Nix-O-Tine.”  (Afrocity says: Hmmm, so he most likley was a smoker…like Obama)

4.  Before Kool Aid was distributed in powdered packets in 1927, it was first sold as a liquid concentrate and called Fruit Smack.  When shipping of the glass bottles became a problem, Perkins developed a way to extract the liquid from Fruit Smack leaving only the powder. (Afrocity says: This is similar to Obama extracting the good stuff from the DNC and leaving the powdery garbage that liberals are smoking now.)

5. “By 1931, the demand for Kool-Aid® was so strong, other items were dropped so Perkins could concentrate solely on Kool-Aid®. He moved the entire production to Chicago for more efficient distribution, to be closer to supplies and to be able to expand even further if necessary.” (Afrocity says: Interesting how Kool Aid and Obama both moved to Chicago to be closer to resources in order to expand)

6. “During the Great Depression, Perkins cut the price in half to just 5¢ a packet, a “luxury” most families could afford. Young entrepreneurs sprung up across the country setting up Kool-Aid® stands. While most of the profits were consumed by the youngsters, it was something most children enjoyed.”  (Afrocity says: A-ha!!! Setting up stands…sounds like ACORN)

7.  “Perkins introduced off-shoots of Kool-Aid® including pie fillings and ice cream mixes. These products never really took off with the public. During World War II, fruit acid and dextrose rationing prevented any expansion”  (Afrocity says: Very similar to Obamacare and the stimulus package)

suckaGet my point? When we told Carl not to drink the Kool Aid, there was solid history behind it.  Now Carl looks and sounds like this female police officer in Cambridge, MA. After Obama’s foot in mouth disease over ” Gates Gate”, now she feels Obama has played her for a fool.

Thursday Stitch n’ Bitch: Stars Should Be Seen And Not Heard July 16, 2009

Obama superstar Afrocity has been on the down low lately. I have to take my occasional breaks from the news and Obamatrons.  I recall my grandmother whispering that old saying in my ear, when I was being a bad girl usually because of my snarky mouth:

“Children should be seen and not heard”.

What does it mean exactly?

Children should be well behaved and not speak?

From opposite sides of the remote control, I decided on Tuesday night not to watch anything related to politics.  I would get back to my workout routine. Sweat pants on, iPod and bottled water in hand, I take the elevator to the gym.  Once in the room, there are two other men lifting weights and making guttural sounds. I hate working out in front of others but decided to stay when I saw that the MLB All Star Game was playing on two television sets.

I strapped my legs with the nylon and Velcro 2lbs weights, mounted the treadmill. If I walked through the 4th inning that shoudl be at least 200 calories burned. I would not have to feel guilty about the entire movie theatre sized box of Good & Plenty coated licorice candies I had consumed the day before, or the bowl of strawberry ice cream, or the pizza I had on Saturday.  Taking a a deep breath I set my speed to 4.0 and inclined the treadmill to a steep 4.5.   Although the benefits of working out are amazing, I HATE IT but my 40th birthday is approaching in a few weeks and I want to tone and lose about 5 lbs.  Damn my mother who gave me the thighs with cellulite that I have to  massage every night with Bliss’ “Fat Girl Slim” cream which contains caffeine and seaweed.  Okay I am depressed again, concentrate and watch the damn baseball game.  Nothing like a relaxing workout while watching a ballgame…Until I see Barack Obama’s face. What? @#&!@?  What is he doing on there? Can’t I watch a ballgame with seeing this man? Isn’t it enough that I have to see his face on every magazine in the checkout line? That his name crops into every conversation I have, even with my gynecologist? ARGH.

obama_era Obama is really not our president, he is a rock star. The Obamabots who voted for him fail to admit that his administration is faltering. They don’t care. They just LOVE Barack Obama. Who cares that America is going to hell.

Dick Morris had an interesting column the other day. I know, I know many of my readers do not like Dick Morris because of the things he said about Hillary Clinton but I have to admit that when it comes to Barack Obama, this Dick makes a lot of sense.

Obama’s shifty economics

by Dick Morris

July 14, 2009

Now President Obama says in The Washington Post that he never envisioned that his stimulus package would afford quick relief to the American economy, but would do so only after it had run its two-year course. But when it was passed, Obama sang a different tune, urgently demanding its enactment to speed relief to a sagging economy. He claimed it would “create or save” 600,000 jobs. Now, even as the economy loses 450,000 jobs each month, he pretends that it is a matter of time until the stimulus kicks in.

He now justifies the stimulus package by saying it was adopted to prevent the “collapse” of the economy and the banking systems. But it was really the Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP), first passed under President Bush, that stopped the banks from going under. At the time of the enactment of the stimulus package, Obama never mentioned that he was counting on it to save the banks

All these shifting justifications are designed to explain why the stimulus package has totally failed to accomplish anything. Not only has it done no good. It has done significant harm by ballooning the deficit, driving up interest rates, creating doubts about the U.S. currency and fanning inflationary fears.

But Obama has paid and will continue to pay dearly for betting on his stimulus package. Because of it, the Bush recession is becoming the Obama recession much faster than it would have had he adopted a more gradual approach to solving economic problems. By jumping in immediately, as he did, in order to increase government spending and pass eight years of Democratic dreams in one day, he made the public expect a solution…

Finally, Obama has laid a trap for himself. Just as the economy is coming out of its recession — in 2010 and 2011 — and he begins to run for reelection, he is going to face massive inflation. The money supply has more than tripled since October of 2008 and is going up each week as the Fed buys Treasury bills and other securities to “monetize the debt” (i.e., give other people money so they can lend it back to the government and charge it interest for doing so). With each new infusion of cash, the problem of avoiding inflation becomes particularly severe. Obama could well lose the elections of 2012 because of the inflation his deficit has created.

I hope that Mr. Morris is correct.  Yes, that is cruel of me to say but I want a president that actually does work.  Stars should be seen on the red carpet, not the oval office. A president should be a leader, not groveling at every opportunity. A president makes things, he does break things and speaking of breaking things Mr. President, you might want to invest in a Plexiglas teleprompter.
