Diversity Fatigue Friday: When It Comes To Hate Crimes, Bros Before Hoes November 13, 2009

Crickets from the mainstream media concerning Lionel McIntyre, an African American Columbia University professor of architecture who punch a female colleague in the face. I wonder why? Could it be because McIntyre’s faculty biography on his Columbia University web page reads as though he is the perfect champion of civil rights and equality?Could it be because he is African American?

From the mid-1960s to the mid-1970s, Professor McIntyre worked in civil rights and labor organizing in the deep South. His international experience began with travel abroad in 1972 as co-liaison for the first “People to People Friendship Delegation” to the People’s Republic of China and conducted a subsequent study tour in 1979…”Pl

Please do explain to me how the description above translates into his actions below:

On Monday, New York City police arrested Lionel McIntyre, 59, an architecture professor at Columbia University, for punching a woman in the face, and slapping another man. The alleged attack took place the previous Friday night at Toast bar in Harlem. The woman, Camille Davis, who also works at Columbia University was left with a heavily bruised face, after taking what witnesses described as a closed-fisted punch in the face from McIntyre.Bar employee Richie Velez told the New York Post: “The punch was so loud, the kitchen workers in the back heard it over all the noise. I was on my way over when he punched Camille and she fell on top of me.”Waiter, Rob Dalton said: “It was a real sucker punch. Camille’s a great lady, always nice to everybody, and doesn’t deserve anything like this.”McIntyre, who is black was having an angry discussion about racial issues and in particular about so-called “white privilege,” with both of his alleged victims, who are white.

The man who McIntyre allegedly attacked, only wishes to be identified by his first name, Shannon, told the Post: “He knocked the glasses right off my face. The punch came out of nowhere. Mac was talking to us about white privilege and what I was doing about it — apparently I wasn’t doing enough.”

McIntyre reportedly had an argument with Davis a few weeks earlier over race. He has been charged with assault and was released without bail.

McIntyre told the Post that it was “a very unfortunate event.”

Ha Ha Obama

Why are the actions of Dr. Mcintyre not being explored as a hate crime? The facts clearly state  that this was not his first argument with Ms. Davis. Surely he harbored some anger towards her because she was white and privileged.

Here is a video response to the crime:

In October of this year,  President Obama signed expanded hate crimes legislation into law, explaining that the provision would “strengthen the protections against crimes based on the color of your skin, the faith in your heart, or the place of your birth.”

violence-diamondIn the United States federal law, defines a hate crime as one that is motivated by the victim’s race, color, religion or national origin….But says virtually nothing about gender..What about women?

Where are you NOW? Will someone please step up for Camille Davis.

Or does the left believe that she behaved “stupidly”?

Will Obama have a tea summit in order to mend fences between the two?

Of course Camille will have to pack on the Derma Blend in order to look presentable for his majesty.

Wow. Haven’t read the linked articles or studied the facts (who does that anymore) but in context with the silence about Sharia courts, moslem extremism and what’s going on in places like Iran– this really don’t look good.

  2. manbearpig68 Says:

This could probably be a really big case if somebody pursued it. It looks like a hate crime to me

  3. Tinderella Says:

hate crime laws are ill thought out. people can hate in many different directions and no form of hate should be considered acceptable.

a man who suddenly punches another man and a woman has what are called ‘anger management issues,’ probably would benefit from having a larger man beat the snot out of him. i hope columbia university considers punching two people, one a woman, in the face in a bar fight an example of ‘moral turpitude’ and disciplines the professor accordingly. at most colleges and universities, faculty can lose tenure, if they have it, and their jobs for acts of ‘moral turpitude.’ i hope columbia and the law both come down hard on him. not doing so would be a very bad example to young men.

  4. […] Because we all know that in the new world created by Obamacorn it is all about Bros before Hos. Via Afrocity Police refuse to charge Columbia professor with hate crime after alleged attack on […]

  5. manbearpig68 Says:

It proves the liberal media is correct that we are in a Post-Racial Society.. Fifty years ago, he would have lynched..

  6. The silence from the MSM on this is, well? deafening!

  7. IslandLibertarian Says:

Take it easy people. We just need to wait for “0”(pronounced zero) to tell us who acted “stupidly”.

/I hope Camille Davis sues his racist ass off.

  8. yttik Says:

So when is the beer summit? Isn’t the president going to have Lionel McIntyre over?

  9. John Morris Says:

I wanted to do an in depth comment with quotes and supporting links but I don’t have time.

It seems likely this conflict came out of the growing animosity stoked by affirmative action programs.

We are now very close to being a majority minority society so more and more conflicts like this are breaking out. Instead of a contest of merit in which people bring their resume’s, test scores and acheivements into the area, we have people racing to bring the biggest wound, hangup or scar. (look at Citibank, Bank America, Chrysler and GM)

This is the problem with all group judgements. It may very well be that Lionel Mcintyre had tougher backround and overcame more obstacles and “oppression” than the woman he punched or it could be the other way around. (Although, you might think he’d be past that by now)

The point is there’s no way to deal with this on a group basis.

If your an admissions officer and see that for example a person came up from extreme poverty or was a recent refugee from a war zone you might take that into account but you can’t tell this just by some “group label”.

Anyway this is just the kind of shrinking pie conflicts we can expect to see more of as socialism digs deeper.

  10. Hi Afrocity

I stubled onto your 4 viseos on Youtube and am very impressed on your insights on your conversion to Conservatism. I’m a Latino, bronw-skinned, Conservative who declared myself in my teen years, My mother told ,e I wasn’t suppose to be Repiblican because we weren;t rich and all that. I;m 46 now and I see more and more people of color declaring themselves so your not alone. Keep doing the video you can have a great impact on others who also need to declare what they really are instead of being socialized only to support the Dem Party. Check out my blog sometime.

    Take care

  11. I love you videos. Keep doing them for others like you who need to declare themselves as Conservatives

  12. This is a disgrace. Hate crime laws are stupid anyway (in my opinion) though I don’t think this is Afrocity’s point. The point is simply that no one cares when it is a liberal Black professor clearly assaulting a White woman. No doubt it was caused by her oppressing him in some way!!!
