Uh-oh. He’s back. Will someone please tell Colin Powell that we would like him to take his Kool Aid and hopenchange joints to a land far, far, away from the Republican Party.

Powell Defends GOP Credentials, Calls for More Inclusive Party

Former Secretary of State Colin Powell shoots down criticism from talk show host Rush Limbaugh and former Vice President Dick Cheney.

Former Secretary of State Colin Powell took on Dick Cheney and Rush Limbaugh Sunday, shooting down their accusations that he had abandoned the Republican Party while continuing to dish out advice to the GOP.

Powell, speaking on CBS’ “Face the Nation,” touted his Republican credentials and urged his party to be more moderate and inclusive. He was answering back after Limbaugh called on him to join the Democrats and Cheney said he thought Powell had already left the GOP.

“Rush will not get his wish and Mr. Cheney was misinformed. I am still a Republican,” Powell said, noting that he “voted solidly for Republican candidates” for president for 20 years, spent 10 years of his life serving in Republican administrations and spoke at two GOP conventions.

“You know, neither (Cheney) nor Rush Limbaugh are members of the membership committee of the Republican Party. I get to make my decision on that,” Powell said. “And so I will continue to work in a way that I think is helpful to the country and helpful to the party.”

Mr. Powell I hate to be the one break it to you and I am sure I am not the first to tell you this, but you are an embarrassment only to yourself. If you really want to be helpful to your country as well as your party (whichever one that actually is) please crawl back into your RINO hole and pray that Barack Obama at least remembers to send you an invitation to the Who’s Who amongst African Americans dinner at the White House. I would give Barry a nudge if I were you because he has a tendency to drive over those who help him. Just sayin’. Thank you for serving our country but please shut the fuck up and stop allowing yourself to be a Meghan McCain or a Levi Johnston – aka sad GOP media pawn for the left. It is really painful to watch. It really is.

  1. Colin Powell is a tool… I used to respect him (not sure why) but he has lost all credibility. I get it; he’s a moderate republican. I have no problem with that. But for him to then reject McCain, who is the prototypical moderate Republican in favour of BO and then say that race has nothing to do with is silly. Even I’m honest enough to admit I thought about voting for BO because he’s Black, and then common sense kicked in.

    What a maroon!

I never did like Colin Powell. He seemed like a tool then and he does even more now that I am a Republican. He should respectfully leave the party. I left mine, he can do it too. If you have changed then it is time to leave.

Afrocity you are sooo right that Powell needs to STFU! I am taking him off the logo of my blog. I am even taking suggestions from my followers as to which black CONSERVATIVE should replace his stupid RINO behind.

  3. manbearpig68 Says:

He should at least claim to be independent! It sounds like he has gone back and forth his whole life. If he’s telling the truth? Why claim to be a republican? How could you say you believe in what Reagan stood for and vote for Obama?

    • afrocity Says:

He should claim to be politically insignificant. He did this to himself and the blacks he feels he has alienated will never truly welcome him. Imagine if Clarence Thomas publicly endorsed Obama. Do you think Ebony magazine would give him a centerfold? If you want to vote for Obama do it in private. You don’t have to endorse the guy and why he did I don’t know. At that point it was hurting McCain more than it was helping Obama. Unless Colin thought that the 2% of AA’s who were against Obama would follow his lead.

  4. Rose Says:

The interesting thing is, while we are supposed to subjugate any values, we are losing ground. And I don’t mean the Republican Party.

I mean this nation. And other free nations.

While we are eating our own, attacking our own, focusing on tearing down our own for all kinds of perceived offenses, the deadliest religious doctrine in the world is refusing to moderate in any way. And free nations move aside to accommodate their bloodthirsty practices – sharia law, “honor killings” and the like.

You’re seeing them assume dominance, and when they do not get their way, they riot in the streets, burn vehicles and threaten your law enforcement, and ultimately kill your citizens.

Powell, of all people, should know they danger.

At his level in governmental affairs, for him to participate in the partisan bickering, and not standing up beside Dick Cheney to force this junior administration to deal with the threat and work to keep this nation safe, is unforgivable really. Same with Clinton. Quit working for the damn party and work for the American PEOPLE – all of them.

Listening to him talk is painful, and it is as if he knows better than what he is saying, which makes me wonder why he is saying this, what is behind him?

    And ultimately I pity him.
