From Fox News:

President Obama has decided not to release hundreds of photos potentially showing U.S. military personnel abusing prisoners in Iraq and Afghanistan in the aftermath of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks on New York City and the Pentagon.

A senior administration official told FOX News that Obama told his legal advisers last week that he did not feel comfortable with the release of the photos because he believes they would endanger U.S. troops, and that the national security implications of such a release have not been fully presented in federal court.

“Obama would be the last to excuse the actions depicted in these photos,” the official said in a statement. “That is why the Department of Defense investigated these cases, and why individuals have been punished through prison sentences, discharges, and a range of other punitive measures.

“But the president strongly believes that the release of these photos, particularly at this time, would only serve the purpose of inflaming the theaters of war, jeopardizing U.S. forces, and making our job more difficult in places like Iraq and Afghanistan.

Seems like “Barack the Barbarian” has flip flopped and back tracked once again. This time it is for the sake of our country. Well golly gumdrops, now there’s a novel idea. Obama actually did something for America or was it for himself? Or Nancy?

Update: Obama press conference video

As usual the Robert Gibbs press conference on this matter is entertaining as always. The Obama administration could really turn up the White House decorum and professionalism a few notches.

My guess is they realized that those photos held up next to the videos and photos of the barbaric terrorists cutting innocent people’s heads off would show people that what our soldiers have done ain’t such a big deal.

I go along BandB on this.. It probably isn’t even anything that bad compared to what terrorists do, but shown to the liberals it would be considered a massacre. It could also be more protection for Pelosi and all. If people see the pictures, there may be more of a push to hang the people that ok’d enhanced interrogation..

    O/T but…

That One never looked that buff for a minute in his life. Better keep that pic under wraps before he grabs it and sends it as the White House holiday card.

The youtube of Gibbs “cellphone etiquette” is really funny. I love how the one guy gets up and walks out. As for the other, I’m not sure what Dear Leader’s angle is just yet. Why would he do it for Nancy? Hmmm, I’m gonna have to think on it!

    • G-cat Says:

Something is seriously wrong with Gibbs. When he started with the finger wagging I pretty much wanted to break them. He’s just so creepy. Did he fail as a stand up comic somewhere in his life?

Afrocity: I’m at major lurker from way back at TC, I always enjoyed reading what you had to say. You’ve done a great job here.
