Did a conservative’s  Christmas really come twice this week?

Not only did we sweep the elections but we got rid of some other baggage along the way.

Olbermann suspended for Dem contributions

By CNN Political Unit

November 5, 2010

(CNN)Keith Olbermann, MSNBC’s primetime firebrand host, has been suspended indefinitely for violating the ethics policies of his employer earlier this year when he donated to three Democrats seeking federal office, MSNBC announced Friday.

“I became aware of Keith’s political contributions late last night. Mindful of NBC News policy and standards, I have suspended him indefinitely without pay,” MSNBC President Phil Griffin said in a statement.

First reported by Politico and confirmed by Federal Election Commission filings, the primetime television host gave $2,400 – the maximum individual amount allowed – to each of the campaigns of Kentucky Senate candidate Jack Conway, and Arizona Reps. Raul Grijalva and Gabrielle Giffords. (View PDF’s of FEC filings for Conway, Grijalva, and Giffords)

Conway lost his bid to Republican Rand Paul while Grijalva eked out a win over Tea Party-backed candidate Ruth McClung for a fifth term. Grijalva found himself in an increasingly competitive race after he announced his support of a boycott of Arizona businesses in response to the state’s controversial new immigration law and often appeared on Olbermann’s show where he found a sympathetic audience. CNN, meanwhile, has yet to declare a winner in Giffords’ race, but the Democrat currently holds about a 3,000-vote lead with all precincts reporting.

The contributions may have violated an NBC policy that requires employers of the news organization to obtain permission ahead of any political donations or activities that could be deemed as a conflict of interest. CNN institutes a similar policy.

In a statement to Politico before the suspension was announced, Olbermann defended the contributions:

“One week ago, on the night of Thursday October 28 2010, after a discussion with a friend about the state of politics in Arizona, I donated $2,400 each to the re-election campaigns of Democratic Representatives Raul Grijalva and Gabrielle Giffords,” he said in the statement. “I also donated the same amount to the campaign of Democratic Senatorial candidate Jack Conway in Kentucky.

From Olbermann Watch

I was wondering when it would happen.

It was only a matter of time. Bad things come to those who hate.

As someone said to Juan Williams when he was fired from National Public Radio (NPR)  for making a seemingly anti-Muslim remark on the O’Reilly Factor ,  “they must have been looking for an excuse to do so all along.”     The same is most likely true for our dear insane liberal friend Keith Olbermann.  Face it- his ratings are in the tank.  Fox News kicked serious ratings butt with 7 million viewers on Tuesday election night.  MSNBC is the worst when it comes to rapid liberal pundits- Olbermann, Maddow and Chris “Tweety” Mathews.  The latter who treated Michelle Bachman like a sub-standard human being during her victory party.

This last clip even had liberal columnists criticizing MSNBC as stepping over the line of professionalism.

What? You guys are just now noticing that Keith Olbermann has stepped over the line of professionalism?

Shudder!

It is so unfortunate that we could not send all of the Kool Aid zombies to the political time machine – 2010 – so they could see what a wonderful job Obama has done.  Remember what hopes everyone had for Obama?  Hey screw Hillary! He is the chosen one.  Republicans are dead!!! Obama is the KING OF THE WORLD

Keith Olbermann was one of the prime suspects in Hillary Clinton’s character assassination.  All for Obama.  Now that the fools are stuck on Barry’s Island hungry, in debt- the honeymoon was about as long as a three hour tour.

Bye Keith, good riddance. Looks like you will join the 9.6% that are unemployed in America.  Karma is woman that you take into a room and only she comes out.  Perhaps a tweety bird or two will soon follow.  Too bad your don’t have good conservative friends at Fox News like Juan Williams had to pick a brither up when he is down.

Maybe your good friend Barack will give you a bailout. You have so much hopium, I am sure something will come through.

OH, btw. If you are gonna contribute to a Democrat’s campaign make sure it is a good Democrat.  Jack Conway????? Give me a break. Rand Paul cleaned his clock Tuesday night-everyone but Keith Olbermann saw that coming.

Afrocity’s Political Holiday Wish List: An Intervention Fairy For MSNBC December 2, 2009

Now that the season of giving is finally upon us,  I am introducing a new series- Afrocity’s Political Holiday Wish List.  With the liberals on the hill running a muck, there is plenty for a newly minted Republican to wish for in terms of America’s political sanity. Of course my wish list will imitate the holiday wish list  I keep in “real time”. About one or two items out of the many that I requested will actually show up under my Christmas tree. However, in allowing myself to have this list I can give myself a sense of true hope for real change. For starters, I could wish for “world mainstream media peace” or at the very least the disappearance of Chris Matthews from all of television. On the campaign trail,  Obama promised to be tough on Afghanistan then dithered and apologized as our president.  Let’s face it, Democrats are lousy at foreign policy. Liberals simply don’t care who is threatening to kiss America’s ass. In fact some even believe that we deserved what we got on September 11th, 2001. When I was a liberal, this was an aspect of the Democrats that troubled me. The final chapter of Carter’s presidency was characterized by the Iranian hostage situation. I was about 9 years old and even I knew that Carter looked like a rubber chicken. Still, Obama reluctantly will send an additional 30,000 men to Afghanistan. In true Obama fashion, he must be dramatic about this by giving what is I am sure just another of the thousand peaking at West Point last night was admittedly a clever move on the part of Obama’s team.  At West Point, there would be no outbursts from anti-war liberals who felt betrayed by Obama. The cadets would be respectful and contemplative.   As Obama was reading from the teleprompter, I watched the reactions of the military brains of tomorrow. I saw black faces, white faces, Asians, and the most wonderful of all…I saw female faces. After Obama was done speaking, I saw looks of joy on the faces of youths as they stumbled over one another to get a handshake or at the very least an iPhone picture of our Commander in Chief.

Leave it to Chris Mathews to tarnish the evening as he provided his richly detailed opinions of the students at West Point.

Dear God, please send a bolt of lightening across the Upper Westside of Manhattan that will some how find the ass of Chris Matthews. I pray that it will send testicle rattling tingles of journalistic integrity up his leg. Amen.

Postcards from the Political Edge: Greetings from the Sea of “Change” May 15, 2009

Vintage linen postcard--Same Old Moon

Vintage linen postcard--Same Old Moon

As I was watching the news this morning, I could not help but wonder if Washington D.C. or the American presidency will ever be quite the same again. Usually I am not one that is given to making sweeping generalizations. I am also not saying that everything should remain the same in Washington. Of course every president brings “change”. Change is a good thing. Disaster is not. There are some disturbing conditions emerging from Obama’s sea of change. With no able seamen on deck, I am not sure that America can stay afloat much longer. Washington’s most socially progressive experiment is going down fast and the result may be the liquidation of American values.

Washington Postcard

For those who believed that Obama would be a refreshing change from the previous 8 years, I would hope that the “blame it on Bush” approach is wearing thin. With his usual flair for self-aggrandizement, all paths lead back to Barack Obama and he is politically overplaying his hand.  What was most interesting to me as  I flipped between Fox News, CNN, and MSNBC (ick) is the media agenda, especially from the left and the persistent sense of tampered memory that will shape Obama’s narrative. This media weathering is downright painful to watch. Concerning the Nancy Pelosi debacle, Rachel Maddow had a guest speaker on last night spewing connotations of political warfare. Of course everything is the fault of the Republicans. They made Nancy lie.  Of all the networks, MSMBC is by far one of America’s most ardent liberal revivalists. Keith  Blabberman and his lapdogs attempt to recapture the magic of Kennedy’s Camelot by restoring fashion, pulchritude and misogyny in their coverage of anything Obama.

During the past decade we have witnessed the decaying of political integrity. Yes 10 years –”I did not have sexual relations with that woman” .  Remember that?  We have also witnessed the decaying of journalistic integrity. Just take a look at any “Sideshow Rob” Gibbs press conference. Every briefing is a farce. A grammar school debate team could fair better than that guy.   Nancy Pelosi’s Monday press conference “I did not lie” blah, blah blah, was far from convincing. Forget Camelot. It is gone forever. You can cling to that first edition of Profiles in Courage all you want. Camelot will never return. At the present moment there are things that should be much more paramount than our desire to return to the glorious days of Kennedy land.

This goes for you too my fellow Republicans. Reagan is dead. What was is was and we need to move the fuck on. There is much work to be done. Get my drift?

WASHINGTON – Anyone, said T.S. Eliot, could carve a goose, were it not for the bones. And anyone could govern as boldly as their whims decreed, were it not for the skeletal structure that keeps civil society civil — the rule of law. The Obama administration is bold. It also is careless regarding constitutional values and is acquiring a tincture of lawlessness…

Such a federal ukase (the word derives from czarist Russia; how appropriate) to a state legislature is a sign of the administration’s dependency agenda — maximizing the number of people and institutions dependent on the federal government. For the first time, neither sales nor property nor income taxes are the largest source of money for state and local governments. The federal government is.

The SEIU says the cuts violate contracts negotiated with counties. California officials say the state required the contracts to contain clauses allowing pay to be reduced if state funding is.

Anyway, the Obama administration, judging by its cavalier disregard of contracts between Chrysler and some of the lenders it sought money from, thinks contracts are written on water. The administration proposes that Chrysler’s secured creditors get 28 cents per dollar on the $7 billion owed to them, but that the United Auto Workers union get 43 cents per dollar on its $11 billion in claims — and 55 percent of the company. This, even though the secured creditors’ contracts supposedly guaranteed them better standing than the union.

This is not gross, unambiguous lawlessness of the Nixonian sort — burglaries, abuse of the IRS and FBI, etc. — but it is uncomfortably close to an abuse of power that perhaps gave Nixon ideas: When in 1962 the steel industry raised prices, President Kennedy had a tantrum and his administration leaked rumors that the IRS would conduct audits of steel executives, and sent FBI agents on pre-dawn visits to the homes of journalists who covered the steel industry, ostensibly to further a legitimate investigation.

Baroque Obama-Our New Founding Father

Baroque Obama-Our New Founding Father

Will is correct, the outright socialization of America can be glimpsed in several recent examples: the auto industry;the banking and finance industry; and soon the health care industry. Are any eyebrows raised?  As Americans, these examples should make it clear to us that by the second half of Obama’s first term, the freedoms and values of our country will sink gently into the sea of change. When I say values, I am not speaking of gay marriage which I am for, or pro-choice legislation which I support. I am not speaking about religious values but rather our American values and traditions that are more secular in nature. I am speaking about traditions which do not include our being distantly cooler towards allies such as Great Britain and Israel, while cowering to historical enemies and threats to our safety.

When we hear President Obama lecture us about the true intentions of our founding fathers, does he know that they were actually all strong advocates of republican values?

Samuel Adams, Patrick Henry, George Washington, Thomas Paine, Benjamin Franklin, John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison and Alexander Hamilton. Even Abraham Lincoln held Republican values. Values that when applied correctly (Not the Bush/Cheney way) foster liberty and the rejection of government interference.

Forget about the historic moment and the images of two little black girls see sawing on the White House lawn. We have to clean up the poop deck.

Will continues:

The Obama administration’s agenda of maximizing dependency involves political favoritism cloaked in the raiment of “economic planning” and “social justice” that somehow produce results superior to what markets produce when freedom allows merit to manifest itself, and incompetence to fail. The administration’s central activity — the political allocation of wealth and opportunity — is not merely susceptible to corruption, it is corruption.

As has been mentioned the “blame it on Bush” defense is wearing thin. During the Pelosi press conference, the media was not focusing attention on her obvious stammering and untruths. The story became “Oh I hate to see poor Nancy go through this”. Remember that these were the same journalists that called Hillary Clinton names throughout the Democratic Primary. How dare Hillary cry tears of frustration in New Hampshire? But poor Nancy is being attacked by the big bad Republicans. Nancy Pelosi, the pariah of botox bipartisanship. The reality is that “poor Nancy” complicates things for herself even more by calling the CIA a liar. I am sure they will offer negation and she will be challenged. Get ready Nancy and I hope you’ve got back up because Barack Obama is not really known for throwing out life preservers to Obamabots gone overboard.

Charles Krauthammer agrees:
