A Mostly Center-Right Place For Those With Irritable Obama Syndrome and Diversity Fatigue

Centrist House Rock: The Liberals Have Left The Building October 16, 2010

The outcome of recent polling has brought some remarkable transformations to the Democratic Party

If you pay any attention to political advertisements, especially those in my own state of Illinois, you will see that the Democrats are beginning to sound a lot more like Republicans.

Let’s pretend for a moment that we do not know that Illinois senatorial candidate Alexi Giannoulias (D-IL) is not a Democrat.

Aside from the insertion of class warfare, you probably would not know from his criticism of Washington spending that Giannoulias is one of Barack Obama’s best mobster past checkered friends- and a liberal.

Liberal policies of tax and spend are not popular. The polls tell us that.

No Democrat wants to be associated with Obamacare or the stimulus.  So what do you do when you are losing in the polls and need to gain more votes?

You continue your usual proclivity for leftist dishonesty and make like a GOP elephant.

Who cares if you don’t mean what you say?  Who cares if you have to deny your liberal values and hold your nose while saying ” Washington is being irresponsible”?  As long as it gets votes, the Democrats will say what they need to say to win.

I call it the “Centrist House Rock”.

Waning in the political doghouse, Democrats brainstorm for a new song and dance- something that will sell to formerly adoring voters.

Their jobs depend on the popularity of its rockstar’s policies.

If they lose their political seats, they might have to go back to their respective states and actually work for a living.

Harry Reid (D-NV) actually dealing with his constituents on the daily basis is his worse nightmare. What if they speak Negro dialect? How will he cope?

Barbara Boxer (D-CA)  might actually be called Ma’am by someone.

These guys are in danger of losing that which they hold most precious- a cushy job where they get paid to spend tax payers money on worthless legislation  and not actually deal with the problems of the very people they claim to care about.

Obama- THE KING, stands at the top of the jailhouse observation deck, he must come up with a plan- not to save Americans, but to save his own jackass.

From the outset, it was clear to most Americans that Barack Obama is far left.  Because the hope and change dance is no longer working its magic, Democrats are running away from the toxic Kool Aid Man.

With little time left, they only have history to turn to.

Dusting off the relics of successful Democrats past, they will pull out the original “First Black President,”  William Jefferson Clinton.

Imagine the donkeys dancing around their jail cells,  asses gyrating to soulful rock music.  Lyrics of centrism  begin to circulate. Can a jackass change its stripes?

You betcha.

“We can do anything the Republicans can do better”…”We can do conservative better than YOU.”

“No you can’t”

“Yes WE CAN”

“You said that in 2008″

“YES WE CAN”

“NO YOU CAN’T”

Hmmm, it seems that no matter how many rehearsals are held for the Centrist House Rock,  there is no adequate protection against the red war paint smudging off and exposing a blue liberal face.  Elephants never forget.

Jackasses often do – especially when it comes to their past record on oh let’s say spending and criminal acts.

Oh, come on Alexi just pull an Obama circa 2007-” So yeah,  I bought my home from Tony Rezko- a mobster”, and say “It was bone-headed”.  Do as Obama says  since you all do what he do.

Opinions on this differ.  Liberal pundits say that Obama was centrist all along.  The reason why Democrats are disillusioned by his behavior,  is because he is not liberal enough.  He promised to be left of left of center.  Share the wealth, do not extend the Bush tax cuts, prosecute Bush and Cheney.  But the changes have not come fast enough for Obama supporters.   The troops are still in Afghanistan, Gitmo is still open, there is not a pony on everyone’s doorstep.

Obama was entrusted with the object of hope and he let his party down.

All was forsaken to elect the master of change- a cult of personality.

And what happens when the cult members wise up?

The personality changes, especially when it’s hide is on the line.

Stripes are changed, lies are told. You play the blame game and regurgitate liberal talking points.

Admittedly some are better than others.

But who said that rock songs ever have to be good?

They just have to catch on.

Political Forecast: More Liberal Whine Flu Ahead September 7, 2010

If nature is kind to us, all seasons begin and end gradually with hint of warning for things to come.

Saturday morning I awoke to a crisp breeze-very unlike the other September mornings. My dog pricked her ears in a surprised fashion as she went outside for her daily potty.  The fur on her back raised, her tail coiled… What’s wrong puppy???

Then I touched the patio window. Eeek! It was 45 degrees! My jersey knit robe suddenly felt like paper – not keeping my body warm at all. Hurry up and pee doggie!!!

That breeze our only warning.  The day that began as chilly climbed to 74 degrees by its conclusion but still that morning cold jolt validated what I dread most about summer- that it is ending.

Soon I will trade in my wedge heeled sandals for a cute pair of Dansko clogs. Green leaves reveal their fall colors. Children selling lemonade will transform into little ghouls and goblins asking for candy. Whether I liked it or not, the season is changing. Goodbye sundresses and outdoor theater performances.  Goodbye Italian ice man. The Chicago “hawk” is coming. Time for Afrocity to purchase the 20 pound September issue of Vogue magazine, put on her flannel big girl panties and deal with it like a woman.

But some do not deal with life’s realities so easily… Some whine and kick and scream by defying the truth.

Instead of finding pleasure in going coat and over the knee boot shopping, they stubbornly insist on wearing campaign season white shorts and flip flops well into October.  They annoyingly play the liberal whine game well into November.

Political seasons change too you know. Any weather man will tell you that you can’t thrive during cold economic times if you can’t survive. There are political trends,  election winners and losers.  Thankfully some hurricanes fizzle out into tropical storms-  like Hurricane Arlen (Specter).  He started out weak, changed courses from right to left –then ended up being a disappointment to all and politically insignificant. Hard to keep up a good wind tunnel of trust when you are battling RINO-virus.

You never know who will be the season’s top political dog.

Or who will whine that they are talked about “like a dog”.

What once was a “do” may very well be a “don’t”  .

Yesterday’s election “it girl” could quickly turn into today’s boob:

As the mainstream media points out, this will be a “fierce” political season for the Democrats.  When you don’t conserve and gather enough support during the summer, a very autumn November can turn ugly.

From this article in the Quad-City Times:

GOP, Dems gear up for fierce political season

By Ed Tibbetts

September 6, 2010

Flag-waving tea partiers in Davenport  [Iowa] and cheering labor unionists in Hampton, Ill., kicked off the traditional start to the political season in the Quad-Cities on Monday.

In what’s an already intense atmosphere, both Republicans and Democrats were  preparing for the final 57-day sprint to the election, Nov. 2.

Democrats warned union members at the Salute to Labor picnic in Hampton about the perils of Republican control of Congress, saying they want to eliminate the minimum wage and the federal agency overseeing workplace safety.

At a rally of the Davenport Tea Party, activists criticized the rising federal debt, the new health-care reform law and increasing government influence in the economy.

“Government’s too big. It’s overreaching,” said Stan Gustafson, a pastor from East Moline. “I think the government’s got its hand in too many things.”

The most-cited example was the health-care law.

Many at the rally had harsh words for President Barack Obama, too. “He’s un-American,” Gustafson said.

Several of the tea partiers rallying at Brady and Locust streets emphasized they aren’t locked in with the Republican Party, though many said they planned to vote that way. Others also endorsed Republican calls to cut taxes.

It was clear they had no use for the Democrats controlling Congress.

Ouch! The ballot boxes overflowing with Republican votes will definitely signify a change in political seasons.  Americans want protection against the whine flu.

No more hacking up our tax dollars while poring Kool Aid flavored cough syrup down our throats.

No you won’t!

If Obama thinks he is being talked about like a dog now, just wait until 2012.  Another example of a change in political seasons is when Obama’s biggest fan’s like one of my 92 year old relatives say this:

“Every time Obama opens his mouth, I hate him a little bit more and more.”

When words like that are uttered by a woman who thought Obama was “competent” and “seemed like he could do the job” in 2008-  my advice to our president would be to eat up that arugula flavored kibble!

Strangers With Kool Aid: Will The Real Barack Obama Please Stand Up? August 20, 2010

Barack Obama does not exist.  How can he? Does anyone really know who this man is or what his true beliefs are?

In 2008, I parted ways with a liberal friend who chose to vote for Obama over Hillary Clinton.  She informed me that it was better for vote for the “unkown quantity” (Obama) than the “devil you know”  (Hillary).    Quite strong was our email debate, so strong that we never corresponded again.   This same friend was a staunch Bill Clinton supporter during the 1992 campaign and as far as I knew, a Clinton-phile.

What happened?

Would you let a stranger come into your home for four years without truly knowing who they are?  Would you let them determine what laws you abide or spend your hard earned money?

Would you let them visit neighbors or allies on your behalf?

Apparently over 63.7 million Americans did let a stranger in.  Now many of those 63.7 million are wondering who the hell is in their back yard playing golf and speaking on their behalf while spending their money like water.  He does not sound like the nice hopeful stranger they so idolized nearly two years ago.   They did not realize how much ego stroking the seemingly polite stranger would require or how many vacations and trips to campaign -even after the campaign was clearly over. At the ballot box, a little mystery seemed fun, exciting.  Who cared about the stranger’s sealed college records, numerous votes of “present” or ambiguous religious background and views?  Once the stranger moved in, there would be plenty of time to play catch up.  Plenty of time to understand his true nature, delve into his inner workings.

Unfortunately things don’t work quite that way when it comes to the people we allow into our lives or the Oval Office.   Once bugs check in, they don’t check out- at least not without a fight and some inconvenience.  Bugs also leave bite scars, droppings, disease and bills as a reminder of their existence .  The best cure is prevention.  But you have to want to know the truth and be able to handle it.

The dissection of Barack Obama’s identity or lack thereof was taken on by a number of conservatives and even some liberals who were pro-Hillary.  Sean Hannity was portrayed as an obsessive racist loon when he pointed to Obama’s connections to Rev. Jeremiah Wright,  Tony Rezko and William Ayers.

Obama’s Illinois Senate voting record was always “present” .  Seems like a reason for concern to me but I was not a Kool Aid drinker which is why my Obamabot friends thought I was being nitpicky when I said that Obama really does not take a stand on anything.  Like tofu, he took on the flavor of what ever political spice was added to him.   If the recipe for support and campaign contributions called for another ingredient,  Obama would toss the fennel and basil under the bus and replace it with the next advantageous seasoning. The aroma was great and the presentation created a piece de resistance when compared to other presidential hopefuls, especially among the Democrats.  But what the heck was going on in the kitchen?  No one knew. No one cared but you could just consumer wrap Obama up and put him in your back pocket.

Now some Americans claim they do not know the man they elected to our nation’s highest office.

They do not know what religion he is.

From TIME Magazine:

TIME Poll: Majority Oppose Mosque, Many Distrust Muslims

You say you did not see the warning  printed on the advertising?  You did not see “caution” written on the Mr. DNC  Goodbar wrapper? Didn’t your mothers ever teach you not to take Kool Aid from strangers in any form- liquid  powdered, or intravenously?  Do you know a recipe for political disaster when you see it?

24 percent of you are unsure what your president’s religion is?

Just a side note here. For the last two years I have heard so much about religion and race that I could cough up a Rainbow Coalition hairball.  Blah, blah.

Obama is black . He is not.

Obama is Muslim. He is Not.

Honestly, I do not care but there is one thing we can all universally agree on and that’s is that he is bad for America and ill-equipped to be our president.  I do not agree with his positions when they are expressed or policies.  I don’t care what ethnicity box he checks on his census form or who he prays to.     True since 9/11 we have seen a sharper eye turned to the Muslim community and a focus on religion and politics in the Eastern hemisphere.  World Trade Center go boom by Taliban in the name of Allah.  It is only natural that Americans are skeptical of the proposed mosque near ground zero.  I should know, I lived in New York at the time.  I do not want the mosque built so close to Ground Zero either.

Obama is in favor of the mosque.

Does Barry’s response surprise any of you?

Here is a representative view of Obama’s ties to the Muslim religion:

Where his sympathies lie is pretty clear to me.  But Again, Obama could be Wiccan and I would still wheelbarrow him out of office.

Vote with your head.  Not your emotions.  Ask questions before you pull the lever.

You don’t think I do that with every candidate?

Yes I do.

Even Sarah Palin.   I did not get caught up in the President or oracle debate when it came to Obama.

I did not need a savior.

I did not need a sex symbol or a great orator.

I did not need the ghost of MLK’s past.

I needed a president.

Now as it stands, I don’t know what I have living in my White House.

Live From The Obama Fallout Shelter July 27, 2010

There are certain times in life, when I maneuver conflict more gracefully than others.  For the times I don’t,  I retreat. Which is why I have been a non blog posting flake for the last two months.  Remember the old Afrocity who used to post once or more a day?  What happened to her?  Did she turn liberal again? Is she floating in the Chicago River face down with a “Sarah Palin  is a Cunt” tee shirt tied around her neck?  Clearly the victim was strangled before she was murdered and it was staged to appear as though the right wing turned on the poor misguided African American conservative.

And here lies the question.

Who can you trust nowadays?

Honestly, (and my dear readers will never have me any other way)  there are days when both sides get on my nerves.  Yes liberal readers, Afrocity does get fed up with conservatives at times. The abortion issue is one of those times.   I do not need the Christian Coalition Against Choice task-force sending me emails every time I author a pro-choice piece.

“It is not about government interference or privacy, it is about murder and against God’s will…yada, yada, yada, yada”

Nothing will make me anti-choice.  Sorry conservative Charlie.  And while we are at it, nothing will ever make me protest gay marriage.  It is not my business.  Having said that, you will never see Afrocity at a gay marriage rally either.  I check my activism at the door when it comes to matters concerning religion, life, death, abortion and marriage.  Meddling often overrides political common sense.  Gay marriage and abortion, have no place in a political discussion.  Both issues unnecessarily divide women and men who may otherwise choose different political parties if the conflict did not exist.  According to liberals, Sarah Palin could never be a feminist because she is pro-life.   In the world according to ass,  pro-life women do not want equal pay or the right to vote.  Why would a pro-life woman care about matters concerning breastfeeding in public or day care?  Pro-life women must love getting sexually harassed at work.

Only liberal women care about that sort of thing you know.

Resolutions to the abortion issue will never follow my lifetime because really, both parties do not want the conflict to end.  It creates much needed political tension and division.

Without divisions, there would be no base.

And speaking of political division… Democrats, before you begin licking your donkey chops, you should know that conservatives- the group with whom  I identify with the most- annoy me far less than most liberals do.  Far, far, far, far less.

The liberal tourist traffic frequenting the FOX NEWS/New Black Panther Party drama coupled with the press attention over the NAACP and the Tea Partiers has of late rendered me politically tone deaf.  Although the NAACP was useful during some stage in American history, after taking a look at their website site recently, I do not know what the hell they are doing besides fueling… well…racism.

Take a look at the lovely online exhibit of racist Tea Party signs the NAACP has curated:

I cannot tell you what the NAACP hopes to accomplish with this. You cannot truly fight racism unless you first cut the cancer from your own hypocritical backsliding throat.  Racism is racism.  You cannot call it racism when it only effects your special interest group.

This is the NAACP’s  pledge to “repudiate racism” in the Tea Party

  • I believe all Americans have equal rights and equal value.
  • I cherish the diverse cultures, beliefs, and values of America.
  • I believe we can disagree without being disagreeable.
  • I repudiate all acts of racism and hate, both in words and action.
  • I have faith in the promise of America – a promise built on mutual respect, common civility, and hope for a better tomorrow.
  • I commit to building that better America by participating actively and peacefully in the democratic process.
  • We are one people. We are one nation. I’m an NAACP American

That last line really troubles me. I am an American first.  Yes I am an African American.  I am a female who happens to be black.  I am surely not an “NAACP American”.  What does mean anyway?  Exploring the pledge further makes me wonder if the NAACP actually followed their own advice in the past and enforced the PLEDGE when the following Democrats said:

You think the Republican National Committee could get this many people of color in a single room? … Only if they had the hotel staff in here.”–Howard Dean

I’ve seen a lot of white niggers in my time” – Robert Byrd

He [RNC Chairman Michael Steel]has a career of slavishly supporting the Republican Party.“–Democrat Steny Hoyer

He’s [Clarence Thomas]  married to a white woman. He wants to be white. He wants a colorless society. He has no ethnic pride. He doesn’t want to be black.” -California Democrat Diane Watson

Would the NAACP ever hang this picture at headquarters?

Where was the NAACP when Condeleeza Rice was branded an Aunt Jemima along with colorful images of her clad in a red do rag and mammy doll’s clothing?

Where was the NAACP when African Americans made racist remarks against Hillary Clinton supporters- especially black Clinton supporters?

“At the end of the day, Hillary is still a white woman.”

Those words were spoken to me by my aunt- a rabid Obama supporter.  Her worry was that black women would vote for Hillary over Obama because she was a woman.  Auntie was simply reminding her politically wayward niece that color trumps gender.    I will not get into the narcotic Kool Aid dependencies of Obamabots in this post, but I knew auntie was inhaling and sending her last dollar to the Obama campaign. Her will to see beyond race was compromised by her commitment to righting the political wrongs of slavery and bondage.  In essence , African Americans were becoming everything they used to hate.

What a sad delusion.

What an abysmal state of mind to be stuck in.

The Democratic party- the party of equal rights, tolerance, diversity and most of all liberalism, is on auto-destruct mode.  Such a reversal of misfortunates.  You were once racist against me so that give me the right to be intolerant and racist against you–FOREVER.

Within the analogy of annoyances between conservatives and liberals,  everything depends on what I can and cannot morally stomach.  I hate hypocrisy.  At least the religious/holier than thou trope has always been a staple amongst conservatives. Republicans are pretty consistent about being anti-choice, anti- government and self-knowingly quite hypocritical about it.    Along with the heavy moral quotient, regardless of any fallacies committed along the way, the elephant is usually not delighting in the enslavement of identity politics. The elephant does not suffer from amnesia when it comes to the Civil Rights Era.  The elephant is not involved in some KoolAid/cult of personality  addiction narrative that seems to follow their most successful leaders (Kennedy/Obama).   The elephant in my view is not dispensing hopium to its patients and quickly escaping on a jet to play a hundred rounds of golf in Hawaii.

Is all hunky dory on the right side of the tracks?

No, of course not.  I would be lying if I said it was.   I battle everyday to get conservatives to understand why some of us Americans want to be called African Americans.  If I want a hyphen, then damn-it I can have one.  When I expatriated from the Democratic Party, I did not stop being African American.  If the GOP wants more people of color , they will have to market the brand in a way that does not compromise the values of conservatives; while at the same time showing us that it is okay to be proud of one’s ethnicity.  No watermelon cart is needed.  You don’t need a reparations bill to get African Americans to join the conservative party. Just be yourselves and show them what you stand for and how it can benefit them.

Someone may listen.

I did.

Well, back to the shelter…I may crawl out in a few days when I run out of Beanie Weenies and Gatorade.  Visit if you choose but be warned… I do not allow Kool Aid or Barney Franks.

Diversity Fatigue Friday: The Unknown Historic Moment Quantity May 21, 2010

From I own the world

Barack Obama campaigned for his presidency during a time that the majority of Americans wanted anything that was the antithesis of George Bush. Couple that desire with the juxtaposition of the Obama persona with such African-American icons as Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X, one can surely understand how the combination was a winning David Axelrod formula.

The climate wave was change, hope and the promise of a historic moment.   My PUMA counterparts did not buy into it. They had found a suitable candidate in Hillary Clinton.  Hillary offered the promise of brains, experience, substance and of course- a historic moment.  Hillary offered something in different forms . She was the best man for the job and she would have be the first female President of the United States of America.   It was clear that Hillary was more qualified than Barack Obama. Yes there was baggage but I can argue that one can expect baggage with experience.  I can tolerate some baggage depending on what kind it is.  Okay so, Hillary voted for the war on Iraq.  For me, that was a moot point.  We were already in it so let’s finish it.  I can accept that over a vote for TARP.  It was not like Obama really cared about foreign policy. Besides, Barack Obama was not in the U.S. Senate  when the vote on Iraq was taken.  How did we know what he would have done?  He was an unknown quantity.  Yes there was some information out there. The kind that was only broadcast on Fox News. The kind that Obama supporters did not want to hear about.

How were we supposed to know how Obama would have handled 9/11 or Hurricane Katrina? An economic crisis?  A major oil spill?

How did we know that he was not the same ol’ Washington Politics? Business as usual?

Now we do.

From this article at Townhall.com:

Over the Rainbows

by Jonah Goldberg
May 21, 2010

…He came into office promising rainbows and puppies for everyone and has, like Pizza Hut during a blizzard, failed to deliver. Now, before some intern at a left-wing media watchdog outfit spits Diet Snapple out his nose in outrage over my “fabrications” and “distortions,” and fires off some canned protest e-mail, I do not literally mean to suggest that Obama promised voters rainbows and puppies. Rather, I mean it figuratively. He did literally promise to change the way Washington works, unify the country, govern from the center, work with Republicans and operate the government in a fiscally responsible way. That hasn’t happened. You could look it up.

The White House desperately wants the story to be “Voters Mad at Washington,” not “Voters Mad at Democrats” or, heaven forbid, “Voters Mad at Obama.” But the simple truth is that all three things are true, and Obama deserves much of the blame.

Jay Cost, an indispensable election analyst at RealClearPolitics.com, has it exactly right: ” ‘Change that you can believe in’ has gone from an over-worked campaign slogan to an unfalsifiable hypothesis. Vote for a Dem, you support the President’s agenda for change. Vote for a GOPer, you support the President’s agenda for change.”

This spin has been a long time in coming. After the Scott Brown victory, the White House claimed that the Republican’s win was a manifestation of the same political forces that brought Obama to power, even though Brown opposed Obama’s agenda, and despite the fact that Obama lustily endorsed Brown’s opponent, Martha Coakley. Who, by the way, wasn’t an incumbent. She promised to advance Obama’s “change” agenda, and she lost. But Obama’s just so awesome that what would be political losses for lesser mortals must be more winning proof of his supercalifragilisticexpialidociousness. Because as far as this White House is concerned, nothing is ever Obama’s fault and everything is proof of how much we need him.
It’s an odd position given how the people who need him least are candidates from his own party
.

For those of you who claimed to have voted for Obama because he was a fresh, unfettered, unknown quantity – a historic moment… Tell me.  how do you feel about your choice now?

Sunday Soliloquy: In the Heat of the Night April 4, 2010

It is never really one place or one time that I think about how lucky I am to be alive…How lucky we all are.

My mother always taught me that life is a gift, something that we should respect. Since childhood, the Easter holiday has been special to me.

Mother and I would always buy jelly beans and Paas Easter Kits.  Off to Marshall Fields department store we would go to purchase a nice outfit for myself, complete with a flowerful purse, lace gloves and a bonnet.

Would the cruel Chicago weather subside to allow the use of these holy garments? Ah! It did not matter. Even if it were 45 degrees, young Afrocity would dress to the hilt on Easter, patent leather white Mary Jane shoes and all – freezing her cottontail off.

Mother would shake her head in disapproval,

“You just had to wear that outfit didn’t you? Look at how foolish you look in those lace bobby socks shaking like a leaf.”

Who cared if my body temperature was that of an icicle! I was stylin’ and honoring the day that Christ rose from the dead.  Jesus wanted me to look my best. Later on Easter night, we would watch The Ten Commandments.  My favorite part was God’s powerful voice:

“THOU SHALT NOT KILL.”

Spiritual salvage is all about reusing lessons of the past but today, I am a far cry from that little Easter girl.  There is no clove scented ham baking in the oven or failed attempts at blowing eggs to make Ukrainian style decorations (that was a passing childhood obsession that drove my mother crazy).  Instead just me and my boxes in my new apartment.  Tired and sore from lifting.  Not a chocolate bunny in sight, only empty pizza boxes and bubble wrap.

I have never missed my mother more than today.

Unlike Jesus, she is not coming back from the dead.  This was made more evident when I opened the box containing her ashes.  Moved from one apartment to another just like my china.  With a deep sigh, I placed the box in a credenza cabinet.  The only thing that would be resurrected was my yearning for the past.  When life was simpler.  When I could recognize my country.

During my unpacking frenzy, I was able to sneak in an internet break or two and catch the daily happenings.  One unfortunate event in Chicago caught my eye, it seems my fair city is getting some much needed practice in before Obamacare goes into full effect.  This year, the Chicago weather ignored the trend of freezing off the cute Easter bonnets.

Once April hit, the Windy City was boasting temperatures that climbed into the low 80′s…and a murder rate that climbed into the 40′s in just two days.   While warm weather devotees rejoice over the Easter holiday and peel off the winter clothing, Chicago’s youth are hatching out of hibernation with knives and guns.

From the Chicago Sun Times:

Brazen shooting just blocks from top cop

Weis was speaking about recent crime wave in which 41 were shot

April 3, 2010

BY ART GOLAB

After 26 hours of violence that left 41 people shot and four dead, Police Supt. Jody Weis called a press conference Friday afternoon in the Englewood neighborhood — the site of three of the shootings.

But just as the press event ended, Weis had to cut short an interview because of a report of shots fired just blocks away.

It turned out a 25-year-old man was shot at 69th and Paulina and taken to the hospital in critical condition.

Weis had just announced a series of police responses to the warm-weather crime wave, including a crackdown on what he called “large gatherings, illegal parties and large house parties.”

It was a house party that got out of control that led to three separate shootings and one death in the Englewood neighborhood, Weis said.

Weis said problem parties often occur in vacant or abandoned buildings, and he appealed to the public to alert police to such happenings.

“These unauthorized parties often involve underage drinking, little or no security and are held in unlicensed locations,” Weis said. “They are simply not equipped to handle large crowds. They are a disaster waiting to happen.”

Police will also step up enforcement of curfew violations, increase foot and tactical unit patrols in targeted areas and focus on bars and other “problem establishments” that generate more than their share of 911 calls.

“These places are madhouses of criminal activity and tie down precious resources which could be deployed fighting crime,” Weis said.

The 41 people shot between the end of Wednesday and 2 a.m. Friday included four people who were wounded outside the Magnolia nightclub near 122nd and Halsted, Weis said.

Other shooting sites included Bronzeville, Grand Crossing and South Shore. During one especially violent stretch, 16 people were shot in a little more than two hours.

Among those was a woman who said she was shot in the arm in Millennium Park about 12:30 a.m., but did not report it until she was treated in a Melrose Park hospital. Police have questioned where the shooting happened.

Weis noted that the second Englewood shooting occurred despite the immediate presence of three dozen heavily armed and uniformed police officers.

It shows the complete brazen lack of respect for authority.” Weis said. “The question that I have to ask is, what would they do when we’re not here?”

Ahem,  excuse me Officer Weis who uttered “…It shows the complete brazen lack of respect for authority.”   Don’t you think that is an understatement?  The Chicago Police Department have gotten into the bad habit of thinking they are holding the remote control for Chicago’s violence.   When you find black on black crime- and this is what it is.  I am not about to parse this as a Chicago wide problem.  It is about African Americans and Latinos killing each other while Louis Farrakhan is worried about some conservative nut job killing President Obama.

The Tea Partiers are not the problem in America.  Obamacare will never put a Band Aid on what is going on in Chicago.

Louis Farrakhan, Barack Obama, William Ayers, Father Pfleger,  Valorie Jarret are all opportunistic parasites on Chicago’s African American community.  These are not community leaders.  Chicago murders and youth violence is plentiful in supply, more abundantly so since Obama’s election.   The hot trend at the moment lies not in the weather but in a surprisingly brazen lack of respect for LIFE in the black community.  A surprisingly brazen  lack of hope after the chosen one resurrected “black pride” from the dead.

Rather than enjoying the Easter weekend outside in the 70 degree weather, I stayed in and unpacked.  A little spider crawled on the widow sill as I opened a box of knick knacks. Annoyed, I began to swat him with an old Vogue magazine then I remembered God’s loud voice.

“THOU SHALT NOT KILL”

Stopped dead in the rolled up magazine’s tracks, I calmly searched through boxes for my Dust Buster.  In the spider went, vacuumed and alive.  It was good for the little creature to be outside I thought as I emptied the filter and he crawled onto my patio.

“Use your imagination, ” the black kids were told. “Now even YOU can be President of the United States.”

Sure they can ..If they can only hope to have a much of a fighting chance for life as a spider.

Barack Obama and his Disease NOT to Please March 18, 2010

When Bret Baier of FOX NEWS stepped into President Barack Obama’s parlor for a lengthy interview yesterday , all arrogance and subterfuge broke out from the mouths of the two-faced chosen one.

When it comes to getting to the heart of the matter with the head of our nation, there are no logical underpinnings. Only a smarmy and disturbingly dismissive air  that is and will always be the true nature of Obama.   There is no sense of openness with this guy. The house is full of glass –breakable objects with “DO NOT TOUCH” signs –such as his ego.  Look at it, admire it, but don’t you dare touch it or you may get shocked.   Because his clenched lipped, wide toothy smile is an extension of his fake demeanor, I am not quite certain how much forced effort he expends per appearance to actually endear himself to the public.

I will bet anyone a tall frothy mug of root beer that Obama ran to some back room and punched some poor unsuspecting well wallpapered White House wall  after his FOX interview.

Bravo to Bret Baier, for not falling for the ol’ Obama long drawn out response trick. Bravo to FOX NEWS for not rolling over and playing dead like nearly every other media outlet known to man.

I love the way Obama is dismissive of Bret’s email examples.  Emails from ACTUAL PEOPLE.  Not his Kool AID punch drunk adoring fans who are planted like acorns at town hall meetings.

So reminiscent of Obama’s “I HAVE A BRACELET TOO” moment during a 2008 presidential debate.

Has anyone ever told you that you are too nice?  That you are “a pleaser” ?  You care too much about what others think?   For every disease there is its evil twin.  The twin of “the disease to please” is named Barack Obama.

Obama’s lack of concern for Americans is not hidden in some deep dank, dark place beneath the surface… It is on the surface.

There is no “at first sight he seems compassionate” .    At least for smart voters like myself there wasn’t

Any intelligent, discerning voter can see that it is in Obama’s DNA not to please.  There is something more important in his life than you and that’s HIM.  Make no mistake that his inner house is full of glass. His brain has skylights and trap doors, no expression of true warmth and held together with steel and concrete beams, 40 tons of granite.

Ultimately this man is a with-holder.  While voters were douching their minds with  hope n’ change, Obama was cocooning his ego in the love bath.

Whatever originally attracted anyone to vote for Obama is beyond me.  His ego is his driving force, not the will of the people.   There is no well being center oasis in the desert.  Any attempt to reason with him will cause the “Uh, UH” responses and the dreaded “LOOK”.   Obama wants to keep things as fluidly slick and deceptive as possible.  When you touch the glass, it breaks and will cut you.

Hopefully in 2012 what felt so right to voters in 2008, will feel so wrong.  Whether any of his behavior and broken promises inspire his supporters to CHANGE and hope for something better, is entirely up to them.

People like me are just the messengers of the obvious message.

Sunday Soliloquy: Fireside Chat with Afrocity of the Wayward 10 Percent February 21, 2010

At my most generous, I tend to craft my topics for Sunday Soliloquy with an eye toward sharing some aspect of my past with the dilemmas of my political and social present.  This week, I am not so sure I will do a good job.  The last several days have been all about myself and other black people arguing about my not being a Democrat.  Yep, race again and and again and again.

Liberal Democrat, African American Male:

“…The African-American snobs are the asswipes constantly taking shots at the president so they could get kudos from the real elite. The rich white man!… [Afrocity] Don’t be fooled by the constant head pats that you are getting from these white boys. They get off on black self hate and you are only feeding in to it. It’s truly embarrassing sister…You are on the other hand a disgrace to the “Afrocity” name that you adopted for yourself. You should change it to Eurocity or wannabe Eurocity…While I think they are both retarded it’s your right.

What I take umbrage with is the manner in which a mere 10 percent of black folks feel the need to take shots at the 90 percent that don’t think and act like them. We are either elitist or lower class. No in-between. Only black people that don’t know black people think like that.

Your verbiage is not even your own. It’s that of white folks who are equally as ignorant to black culture therefore you are a blind person being lead by a Seeing Eye dog with no vision. Your posts are disgusting to everyone outside of those with a racist mentality….I will have to think of one to label you and the rest of the wayward 10 percent.”

Ooops.  I’ ve gone and lost my blackness again.  Where did it go? I am a racist too.  Now, according to this brutha, I can no longer call myself Afrocity.  The statement above is self-explanatory when it comes to illustrating how African Americans place restrictions on one another in terms of political freedom.  On the blackness radar, the bias is in favor of black Democrats. Anything else, is an imitation.

We are coming out of the worst presidency of possibly all time who was a conservative. You really have NO moral ground to stand on and criticize or teach (LOL). You should instead criticize and teach the folks who thought it was prudent to give Bush another 4 years. I don’t credit any ideology for black success and I don’t place blame on any ideology for black failure. I’m free and independent in my thoughts and actions so when you talk that liberals this and liberals that you lose me and only prove that you live in a box. I am big enough to know that all people have good and bad ideas and good and bad intentions. And don’t misunderstand my disdain for the manner in which Afrocity and other mis guided black folks diss black America for hate.

When have I ever said that I hated black America? And when did I ever say that I voted for George W. Bush? I did not either time.  I abstained from voting in the 2004 election because I found Bush and Kerry both unfitting for the job.

It always amazes me how liberals derive such pleasure in being anti-racist and inclusive of all viewpoints, yet they are shockingly narrow minded when it comes to tolerating others.  Admit that I am pro-choice among conservatives and we will have a discussion.  Admit that I voted for McCain in a room full of liberals and I become target practice for name calling. Within an eye’s blink I became the guy who shot Dr. Tiller and a KKK member all rolled into one.

Female Black Obama supporter:

Even American Jews vote Democrat Lawd!. Who wants to be insulted because of race or religion? Today’s Democrats are your 1960s Republicans and todays Republicans are your 1960s Southern Dixiecrats RACISTS. They are almost becoming the Whig party because they cannot articulate any clear message and minorities they dislike do not trust them either…Finally it is erroneous to link Black failures to liberal cities whatever that is, without mentioning events such as crack cocaine that began under Reagan; dumping of guns in Black ghettos as a means to dispose war weapons but also create unruliness; high incarceration of Black men that began in the 80s (Reagan); etc…Afrocity your question about what have Democrats done for Black people is like asking what have Republicans done for White people. I am not following your reasoning or logic. Black people do not like Republicans because of the Southern Strategy and embracing racist elements boldly, and Neither do Jews because of their religion and anti-Jewish behavior by religious right Christians…White poor Republicans blame minorities for not succeeding i.e. affirmative action, anti immigration. It is easier to find a “boogey man” for your problems. Unfortunately politically civil rights and those that opposed truly believe it is the cause of their problems lol!. …

There was so much there.  Where to begin?  My critic’s statement implies that Democrats cannot be racists, or sexist or anti-Semitic.  Remember Jesse Jackson and his 1984 “Hymietown” comment?  Remember what the Democrats did to Hillary Clinton when she ran against Barack Obama?  Remember when the liberal feminists rallied behind Bill Clinton during the Monica Lewinsky scandal? Any woman became a bimbo, Hillary Clinton was a racist. Blacks could say derogatory things about Jews and whites…and get away with it.

Black conservatives live routinely with having their racial loyalty called into question.  As an aside, I really could not care less about who other blacks vote for.  If 90% are Democrats so be it.  The same goes for Jewish Democrats.  What does my critic’s statement allude to?  That blacks should support the Democratic Party because  Jews do… and blacks and Jews are alike because????

Fine, I will take my hits from African Americans. But do not think that my being a black Republican,  erases my past as a black Democrat.

Clearly I remember being called a “black bitch” by my Bill Clinton loving college friend.   If we want to focus on racism and sexism and wrong doings against protected classes, it is ignorant and unproductive to only look at people in one political party.

Take Amy Bishop, the  University of Alabama professor who shot her fellow colleagues to death.  Did you know that most of her victims  were all of  minorities?  People of color, and she was reportedly an Obama supporter.  Obsessed with Barry, a Kool Aid Snorter.  So does that make her untarnished when it comes to accusations of racism?  Or was she just crazy?

The possibility of  Dr. Bishop being a racist never surfaced. She supported Obama so how could she be racist?   However Afrocity is self loathing and anti-black racist .  The mainstream media gave Dr. Bishop a pass as they were all too busy in their attempt to create a Tea Bagger out of Mr. I flew a plane into an IRS office Stack” .

My questions concerning the Democrats considerable achievements in regards to advancing Black Americans especially urban dwellers are quite harmless.  I was born and raised in Chicago, a liberal haven.  We experienced white flight here, redlining, blockbusting, youth violence.  Why?  This city has been run by Democrats for generations.  I see virtually little if any significant improvement in the socio-economic patterns of African Americans in this city or Detroit which is also ruled by Democrats.

I simply posited that Chicago may be a model for looking at how liberals have all of the power, yet no control over the situation of violence and poverty, despair that many protected classes experience here.

Ronald Reagan never drove me to do crack or hold a gun.   I never saw a corner store robbed because some pitiful urban youth felt the burden of white rich Republicans willing him to be unsuccessful.  If liberals rule Chicago, then why is it so unsuccessful at doing what liberals claim to do best, which is uplifting the underdog?

I am more than willing to enter a substantive dialog with my fellow African Americans about the behaviors and motivations behind each political party- even the Tea Party.  However,  until the every Republican is a racist  and every black conservative is an Uncle Tom meme is dropped, we cannot continue.

Diversity Fatigue Friday: The Past Makes Imperfect Sense February 12, 2010

Are you at all surprised by anything that is occurring with the Obama administration? Did you expect things to be worse or better than they have turned out to be? In my case, I suppose that I expected pretty much what we experiencing now but to a lesser extent. Sure, Obama’s failure can be food for the conservative’s soul however, what does all of this really say about the future of politics in America? We elected an empty Ivy League educated suit, for the second time or perhaps third or even fourth. For some, electing Obama was a break from the crusty old white men of POTUS yesteryear. But how big a break was it? However illegitimate the liberals suspicions of racism on the part of voters against Barack Obama, we must acknowledge that our country fell for the bait and elected a man because of what was on the outside rather than the inside. For many, Obama’s election was a historic moment, a black man in office…FINALLY!!! But at what cost? Even as some liberals begin to mildly criticize the Obama administration, they remain loyal to the “we elected the right man” meme. They remain loyal to man that promised change and jobs.

The unfolding truth of President Obama, does little to confirm their fantasies.

You got your man, a black man, and that is exactly what you voted for. The Tea Party Movement has developed in large measure as not only a revolt against the Obama administration and Washington insiders but hopfully also the way we elect these people to our highest offices. Who says that our president always has to come from an Ivy League university? Possess a law degree and a penis?

There are many ways in which we could be diverse in choosing our elected officials. Color and sex does not have to be one of them.
Yes, Sarah Palin is a woman and it would indeed have been a historic moment if John McCain had won the presidency. Her vagina was not her only claim to diversity. There was those kids, and that “provincial” world view that drove the liberals crazy.

She didn’t go to school in the right places or wear the right clothes. When she did wear the right clothes, she was accused of spending too much money on them.

When it comes to choosing our president many Americans  propose that they do not desire Washington insiders. They claim to be anti-establishment, against the status quo.  But how can you aspire to be against the norm in Washington when you voted for Barack Obama?  He was the same Ivy League, lobbyist coddling, slick, Washington insider as the rest of them…only he can in a darker variety.

So much for true diversity.

For your viewing pleasure is this classic clip from an episode of  70′s Norman Lear sitcom, The Jeffersons.  Here characters George Jefferson and Tom Willis grapple with whether or not they should vote for a candidate because of his skin color.

Thursday Stitch n’ Bitch: The Declaration of Independents January 14, 2010

Official Tea Party Movement Symbol

The year 2010 is an anxious time for all, especially Republicans and conservatives. Obama is breaking promises, and there will be plenty of angry folks this year seeking “hopenchange” again but not in the form of a light skinned guy named Barry.   Like many Republicans I am looking forward to kicking some donkey butt in the 2010 elections.  Or at least I thought I was like many Republicans or conservatives or independents…Which is it?  Anyway after a long exchange on my Facebook page with some Tea Party Patriots, I was told that I am an uninformed Republican voter. Who was duped by the Democrats once and now I am being duped by Republicans.  “Third Party is the only way to go”, they said.

And it’s not going to happen either! The elites and the radicals have highjacked our country and they WILL NOT give it back by us dumb ass SHEOPLE voting in a bunch of corrupt REPUBLICANS!”…But if a good candidate were to decide to run on a 3rd party ticket, I would vote for him or her over the other two even if he/she lost and all of you gave me shit over it. I voted for Perot 2x, but not a 3rd party since because there was no strong runner. WE NEED NEW BLOOD! A WASHINGTON OUTSIDER! THAT ISN’T BOUGHT OR FINANCED BY ANYONE BUT THE PEOPLE!”

“I’m going to be the odd man out here. We have a Marxist because of the 2 party system as it currently operates. Nobody can deny it. The GOP is ‘almost ‘ as corrupt as the Democrats. And if the polls hold on the question of a “Tea Party” having a candidate in a three way race, the TP is smoking the GOP. So just who is splitting the vote. AS for… See More me I am not voting for Republicans. I may vote for a conservative who is a Republican- maybe.”

I just lost all respect for Palin. F*ck the two party system! It sucks major ass! Parties are un-American. We’re not supposed to have them. Parties are for democracies. We’re not a democracy. We’re a republic. Parties have no place in republics. In a republic, politicians are supposed to be non-partisan aka independent. Republicans and Democrats are BOTH taking us down the wrong path. I only align myself with the Constitution!”

Afrocity is not so sure about a third party movement...even if it were a Tea Party

Yes, Obama failed many particularly those who voted for him.

Bush failed many as well. Let’s not lie about that granted it is not fair for the liberals to continue to use “Bush’s fault” as an excuse for everything under the sun.

But does this all mean that we adopt a third party?Because for the last 9 years we have elected flawed leaders  to our nation’s highest office?

The independents seem to think so.

First let’s take a look at what Obama promised and did not deliver. Does it have more to do with him and his character than the Democratic Party in itself? The answer is yes and no. The Democrats chose the wrong nominee as the Republicans did in 2000.  Every party is capable of the bait and switch described by Karl Rove in this article in the Wall Street Journal:

JANUARY 13, 2010,

The President’s Bait-and-Switch Operation

Which campaign promises has he kept?

By Karl Rove

“Americans learned last year that President Obama discards campaign promises like most people discard used Kleenex. Among the pledges he cast aside were reducing the deficit, reining in federal spending, not allowing lobbyists to work in his administration, increasing taxes only on those who make more than $250,000, and opposing “government-run health care” because it is “extreme.”
This year, Mr. Obama is picking up where he left off.
Consider presidential signing statements. Since Andrew Jackson, presidents of both parties have told Congress that while they are signing a bill into law, they intend to ignore specific provisions because they involve unconstitutional restrictions on the executive branch or are otherwise problematic.

A president’s power to do this springs from his oath of office, through which each new chief executive promises to “preserve, protect and defend the Constitution.”
Because of Washington’s hyperpartisan atmosphere, President George W. Bush drew heated criticism from Democrats for his signing statements. Among his toughest critics was Barack Obama, who in a questionnaire for the Boston Globe in 2007 accused Mr. Bush of “clear abuse” in using signing statements “to avoid enforcing certain provisions . . . the President does not like.” He promised not to use signing statements to “nullify or undermine congressional instructions as enacted into law.”
Yet Mr. Obama started issuing signing statements shortly after taking office. Democratic Reps. Barney Frank and David Obey called him out on it in a letter to the White House complaining that they were “chagrined” that Mr. Obama was issuing signing statements.
Recently, the Obama administration admitted that after receiving the letter from Messrs. Frank and Obey, it stopped the practice. But the president still has aides examine each bill to identify provisions the administration will disregard. It’s just that Team Obama isn’t telling Congress which provisions it is ignoring. It’s right for him to defend the office of the presidency. The problem is that he is doing it in a way that violates his own standards of transparency and accountability.

It was always puzzling to me as to why any logical person would believe anything that oozed from Barack Obama’s mouth.  His previous record and experience never proved anything beyond his reputation for securing one position and shortly thereafter  running for another position of higher profile before accomplishing anything of real importance. Liberals often love to brand Sarah Palin as a quitter because she resigned as Alaska’s governor before her term was finished.  No one recalls that Obama was only the Senator of Illinois for a short time before he ran for POTUS.  While a valid argument could be waged that Obama’s actions do not exactly constitute quitting , still closer attention should be paid to the motives behind his leaving his Illinois senate seat after accomplishing nothing.  Sarah left office to unburden the people of Alaska with a lame duck and ever growing law suits against the state by greedy mean-spirits and opportunists.  Obama ran for president because…. Oh I forgot, Michelle Obama supplied us with that answer:

“Barack is one of the smartest people you will ever encounter who will deign to enter this messy thing called politics.”

According to Webster, the definition of deign is: condescend: do something that one considers to be below one’s dignity.  Oh gee thanks Barry.  You see we should be thankful that  God sent Barack Obama to us. Now we can be delivered unto the Promised Land. That was Obama’s motive, to give us the gift of his wisdom. To get in our faces.

"Back of Bus" cartoon by Erin Bonsteel from "American Thinker"

Karl Rove continues:

“This hypocrisy has not gotten much attention. But another act of duplicity has. During his campaign, Mr. Obama pledged that any negotiations on health-care legislation would be broadcast on C-SPAN, “so the American people can see what the choices are,” and not conducted behind closed doors. “Such public negotiations,” he said, were “the antidote” to “overcoming the special interests and the lobbyists who . . . will resist anything that we try to do.”

Internet publisher Andrew Breitbart collected videotape of Mr. Obama making the same promise eight different times in 2007 and 2008—evidence that this was not a hasty or ill-considered pledge. It was supposed to epitomize the “change” that was at the core of the Obama campaign.

Now, however, the final negotiations on health-care reform are being conducted behind closed doors and there’s no formal legislative conference between the House and Senate, which would guarantee Republicans at least a few seats at the table. This bill is not only being written in secrecy, it is being written by an anonymous group of Democrats. We can therefore throw Mr. Obama’s commitment to bipartisanship onto his mountain of broken promises…”

Here is the video by Breitbart that Karl Rove alludes to:

I am less surprised by the die hard liberals who fell for Obama’s crap than I am by voters who characterize themselves as “independents”.

In 2008,  I helplessly watched as my independent voter friends emerged one by one from Obamabot pods covered in a Kool Aid purple slimy substance.  There are some pretty intelligent thinkers among the independent voting block. Their modes of inquiry into the lives of and motives of presidential candidates are legendary.

So why did they fall for Barack Obama?

And why exactly should Afrocity follow them to the promised tea party land?

I want no misunderstanding here. I admire those who actively participate in the Tea Party Movement. Voices need to be heard. I am amused by it. I love the patriotism that Americans are displaying. Am I politically or emotionally committed to the movement…No.  I am not exactly sure if we need a third party.  I saw what Ralph Nader did for the 2000 presidential election.  In theory,  a multi-party system is very American. George Washington hated political parties. In reality, they can also screw up some really great elections and in 2012, I do not want our country to end up with a second term for Barack Obama. Thus I do not quite understand why some anti-Obama voters would want to support third party candidates during the 2010 and 2012 elections. Aren’t we playing right into the liberals hands?
