Saturday Toons: I Just Love Michele…Bachmann That Is November 14, 2009

 

Liberal Jon Stewart lovers are not letting up on their only hope that conservative media (aka Fox News) and the most hated conservative politician besides Sarah Palin, – Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) are immoral scumbags like most of the mainstream media and Democratic politicians he fails to cover.

Several times this week, I have been met with ” Hey Afrocity, did you hear how Jon Stewart busted Sean Hannity and Michelle Bachman?”

If you have not already heard about it, then allow me to fill you in on what the firestorm of controversy is all about.

On his Fox News show, Sean Hannity misleadingly aired video from the 9-12 March on Washington while discussing Rep. Michele Bachmann’s (R-MN) much smaller November 5 anti-health care reform rally to claim that 20,000 – 45,000 plus people showed up to Bachmann’s protest.

It’s odd because there is a big difference between Hannity/Bachmann’s numbers and the numbers put forth by the Washington Post which was maybe 10,000. I guess saying 20,000 – 45,000 sounds better than 10,000. According to MSNBC, “Three Capitol Hill police officers all guessed that the crowd numbered at about 4,000″ in attendance for Bachmann’s protest.

So the reliable sources like MSNBC and Washington Post estimate 4,000 – 10,000 and the made-up numbers are 20,000 – 45,000 which makes for a 10X inflation of the crowd numbers. How do you make people believe your numbers? Use video… old video with more people because no one would notice. Right!

But thank God, we have the “news media” to catch and document the patent lies that were put forth by Sean Hannity and Michele Bachman.Hannity used video from Glenn Beck’s 9-12 rallies and used them to inflate the number of participants. Who catches it? Jon Stewart and The Daily Show.

It’s not really about the math. It’s about using false information to advance a particular point-of-view. This is an example of Fox News deceptively using video and photos to advance a false or misleading story line.

P.S. Hannity issued an apology to the audience for his “mistake”.

I will say again if you have not heard about this then consider yourself lucky to have escaped the desperate gloating of a liberal who clings to the notion that Keith Olberman is actually a good journalist. Afrocity just smiles and acknowledges that it was wrong. The liberal goes skipping down the hallway. Poor thing, it must feel good. Every squirrel needs a nut. The sun must shine on a donkey’s ass sometime.

To be fair, what Sean Hannity and Fox News did was wrong. Do you hear that gloating liberals waiting for bone?  Afrocity agrees with you that it was unethical for Sean to use video footage from another rally in order to mislead the viewers. Personally,  attendance numbers do not matter to me. What does matter is that Rep. Bachmann was doing her part to make sure that Obamacare was not passed.

Unlike Keith Olberman who continues to lie and exaggerate on the daily basis,  at least Sean Hannity apologized:

Should I be angry about this? Sorry but I am not.

Will I switch back to MSNBC, CNN…read the Washington Post?  No.

I will continue to watch FOX News. I really do not care about the videotape. I still love Michele Bachmann.  My only criticism of her is that she not care about the number of people who show up to see her. Leave that to the Obama worshiping Kool Aid gang such as Robert Gibbs and David Axelrod. Numbers do not equate substance.  How many people attended Obama rallies during the presidential campaign, yet left just as clueless about his agenda as they were before they attended? Sadly, they did not care about the words flowing from Obama’s mouth. Michele, I am sure your attendees were present because they actually gave a damn about the future of health care in America. They were angry and wanted to be heard.

Michele keep doing what you do best. Who cares about the perception? Who cares about the popularity contests?
