Mad Magazine Parody of the 2008 Democratic Primary Race Between Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama
The following article by Kathy Barkulis is also cross posted at her blog page at Smart Girl Politics.com
The hypocrisy of liberals can be summarized in three words. Hillary Clinton’s Demise. Who would’ve thought that the Democrats would turn so viciously against the leader of their party? When I recall just how this happened during the last election cycle, I still can’t believe it. I was not a Hillary supporter. But her tenacity during unprecedented attacks from her own party gave me a new found respect for her. The liberals chewed her up and spit her out, forgetting everything she had done for them. As if that weren’t bad enough, they did it with sexism, lies, and videotape on top of it. Would they have done this if they hadn’t had another leader, Barack Obama, waiting in the wings? Probably not. But they were so ruthless that it makes you wonder to what depths they will sink to get the power they crave so ferociously. Let Hillary Clinton be a lesson for all of us.
It started with Hollywood. The left coast’s most powerful fundraisers decided that the Clintons were not to be trusted. Hillary was a liar and Bill was a loose cannon, according to them. They decided to cut her out of the money. They came up with a story about how she backed down from promises kept to them. Hollywood was aided by the gay community in their effort.
Then came the Kennedy’s. I personally believe they were perfectly happy to throw Hillary down the toilet anyway, but when they saw that Obama would have a chance if they got behind him, the decision was made to kick Hillary to the curb.
John Cornyn (D-TX), Obama supporter and backstabber of Hillary Clinton. As you can see he has morphed into a moonbat. Lapis Caninass Obamaia
African Americans soon followed. Bill and Hillary weren’t the first black couple anymore. All of a sudden, the charge was made that they were racists due to some off remarks Bill made after a primary loss. Never mind that Hillary didn’t say it; Bill saying it was enough. The Clintons’ as racists? Really? At this point I saw that Hillary was really in trouble. This is what liberals do, even to their own if they want to destroy them. It’s the last nail in the coffin to call someone a racist. It’s the weapon of choice in their arsenal of political destruction. Hillary was so over.
The media then put Hillary Clinton hatred over the top. Out came the videotapes showing that Hillary mis-remembered her overseas trip where she thought snipers were shooting at her entourage. The videotape showed that she was mistaken. Does anyone really think that Hillary would have purposely lied about this incident knowing there would be clips of it??? But the media gladly characterized her as a liar. After all, they knew they were safe to do so since their Hillary hatred was already being aided by Hollywood, the Kennedy’s, the gay community, and blacks. Slam dunk.
When all of this was unfolding, I kept wondering, where is the National Organization For Women? Where is Planned Parenthood? Where is Emily’s List? Why aren’t they screaming at the top of their lungs? Are they really going to let this insane sexism go without a fight? But let it go they did. No one really stood up for her in the way that she needed in order to survive it. The liberals decided that Hillary was no longer useful to them. They would allow the sexism, the lies, and the videotapes to sink her. They were willing to trade her 40 years of liberal leadership for a five year political neophyte who gave a good speech.
Let this be a lesson about the character of the Democratic Party. This is the party that Colin Powell believes has moral superiority over the Republican Party. This is the party that took their most loyal leader and snuffed her out in an instant. Obama let this happen without a guilty thought in his head, for he would gain the power he craved. Ultimately, that is all that mattered to him. I guess I have no respect for Barack Obama, or his wife. They have done nothing in their lifetimes on their own to deserve the credit they are getting. Their fortunes are the result of Chicago politics, and relationships with prominent whiners who hate what America stands for. But as I watched recently another late night comedian ridiculing Hillary, I decided that she is the one I respect. After all that her party has done to her, she has never once abandoned them like they so cruelly abandoned her.
Editors Note: There is also this recent article by Dick Morris entitled “The Incredible Shrinking Clintons which also addresses the fate of Hillary Clinton in the Obama age:
Asked why he was naming some of his rivals to top administration jobs, President Lyndon B. Johnson said it best: “I’d rather have them inside the tent pissing out than outside pissing in.” President Obama seems to echo Johnson’s management style in his handling of Bill and Hillary Clinton. By bringing them into his inner circle, he has marginalized them both and sharply reduced their freedom of action.
It may appear odd to describe a secretary of State as marginalized, but Obama has surrounded Hillary with his people and carved up her jurisdiction geographically. Former Sen. George Mitchell (D-Maine) is in charge of Arab-Israeli relations. Dennis Ross has Iran. Former U.N. Ambassador Dick Holbrooke has Pakistan and Afghanistan. And Hillary has to share her foreign policy role on the National Security Council (NSC) with Vice President Biden, U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice, CIA chief Leon Panetta, and NSC staffer Samantha Powers (who once called Hillary a “monster”).
With peers who are competitors and subordinates who can deal directly with the president, Hillary is reduced to announcing foreign aid packages for Pakistan while Holbrooke does the heavy lifting.

We thank and welcome Kathy Barkulis as an ALS guest commentator.Speaking of knockout punches, you may remember Kathy as the feisty woman who told off CNN reporter Susan Roesgen during the Chicago Tax Day Tea Party. These videos clips show the epic moment and Kathy in action. Fox Friends and Glenn Beck talks to Kathy Barkulis about her response to the verbal attack of a CNN reporter to a protester at the Chicago Tea Party:
“I guess I have no respect for Barack Obama, or his wife. They have done nothing in their lifetimes on their own to deserve the credit they are getting. Their fortunes are the result of Chicago politics, and relationships with prominent whiners who hate what America stands for.”
This is soooo true!!! and they have taken Chicago politics to Washington. Under the table deals, nepotism, racism, pay to play, uncontested elections, ridiculous taxes, high crime, etc, etc. It’s all going to be on a national level..
United States citizens, upon your election of Barack Obama, Welcome to Chicago!!!
Hey, afrocity! I do believe the pic of the moonbat Lapis Caninass Obamaia is Senator John Cornyn from TX instead of Howard Dean. Both, however, qualify equally for the role. : )
My only real disagreement with the article is the Dick Morris quote. Not only because Morris’ hatred of Hillary Clinton has few rivals (on either Left or Right), but because he stretches facts (as he always does). People like Mitchell, Ross, and Panetta were always and remain Clinton supporters. Biden, well, not exactly a Clinton supporter, but certainly not an enemy. If Obama’s intent really was to marginalize Hillary with their presence inside the circle I think he may find them not playing along as much as he wishes. And Dick Morris, well, as Breathless Mahoney once said: “Dick, that’s an interesting name.”
Morris is right on as he is 99% of the time. Hillary has been marginalized. Bill has been as well by Hillary taking the position. Keep your friends close and your enemies closer. They were played for suckers because of their allegiance to the party. They are under Obama’s control now and the only way they are going to recover is if Obama’s ratings tank…
Just a truly excellent post – thank you for reprinting it, Afrocity.
I frequently found myself wondering – during the primaries – how did it come down to who would be the first Black American Nominee for POTUS or who would become the first Woman nominee for POTUS. There are, after all, many, many more Woman (even excluding Black Women) then there are Blacks in the population, especially in the Democratic Party. And when the dust settled, Hillary had won ALL of the big electoral states (save for Obama’s own Illinois) and, by a very slim margin, the majority of votes in ALL of the primaries put together. The answer was the proverbial “Smoke filled back room deals among the Superdelegates. One Black male Superdelegate (sorry, can’t remember his name, but iirc, a Congressman from NY) who had pledged his support for Hillary, said he was approached by Black Congressional leaders and told “YOU better not be the reason we don’t have a Black President”). So the Superdelegate, back room dealing did Hillary in, not the Democratic Primary voters. So much for Hope and Change. I knew right then and there that President Obama didn’t stand for either Hope for women or Change of the old fashioned way politics has been carried out – particularly by the Democrats since 2000. The GOP would never EVER do this, but I wonder IF Sarah Palin could re-group from the absolute SAVAGING of her by the MSM, the Obama led Democratic Party and especially by the Main stream news media and run against President Obama in 2012, what would happen? She did, after all, have more qualifications to be president than did Obama, McCain or Biden. She was a Mayor – even if of a small city and a Govenor of a huge state with a considerable population and had experience in…..well…. actually GOVERNING. You know, putting together budgets and figuring out how to pay for them. She still has, according to a Rasmussen Poll of a week or 10 days ago, VERY high favorable ratings among the voters in Alaska.
And although it pains me to admit it, Dick Morris IS right – Obama has marginalized Hillary in an extremely effective way. She either carries out HIS wishes as President in Foreign Policy matters or she is purged and America is told she was Purged because SHE was at fault. She’d have had much more power, I think, had she remained a US Senator.
But that aside, it’s clear to me that the Democratic Party still holds women in relatively low esteem. Hell, they haven’t even given Hillary the unfettered right to be Secretary of State, but have their “spies” watching her and carrying separate portfolios. It may have been simply that she’s married to Bill, but for whatever reason, Democrats she had reason to believe would be her allies turned on her, as quickly as did Blacks…….and frankly Blacks had a reason to.
And I still don’t know whatever happend to PUMA – news reports up to election day said they’d desert the Democratic Party the same way the Democratic Party deserted her by not even making her the Vice-Presidential nominee. But they had no real effect in the election itself.
I am a PUMA and we have always been here. |n my opinion Puma had a huge effect on the election especially in states like Pennsylvania. Remember just because one is a PUMA, does not mean that they voted for McCain/Palin. Many stayed at home to show their discontent with the DNC. Some voted for Nader or Cynthia McKinney. It was also not the job of PUMA to get a win for McCain. For every PUMA that voted for McCain, there was also one boneheaded conservative that stayed at home because they felt that McCain was a RINO. There were also Republicans like Avanti at Little Green Footballs that did not vote for McCain because of Sarah Palin.
There was also the ACORN factor and lots of voter fraud.
I only found this blog about a week ago, but it is rapidly becoming one of my favorites! The writings here are very thought provoking and well done.
I a currently reading the book “A Woman in Charge” about Hillary Clinton. One thing that I have noticed that is stunning to me knowing what we all do now, there is no mention of Barack Obama anywhere in it. That book was published in late 2007 when it was pretty much assumed that she had this thing wrapped up. The index (which is several pages long) has no reference to him whatsoever. He was so obscure as late as 2007 and came out of practically nowhere and took her down. It is truly mind boggling what took place in this country last year.
And about Dick Morris, I have to admit, that he is right on target with his analysis of what BO has done to Hillary and Bill. I just wonder though, do you think that he will ever admit that, compared to BO, Hillary may not have been that bad for the country after all?
Great analysis by everyone here. Here’s another angle I’ve thought of…the Dems have a hierarchy for street cred within the party, which has always been so hypocritical, but it’s definitely a reality. And it simply goes like this: 1) Support Blacks 2) Support Women 3) Support Latinos 4) Support Gays (in that order). So when a viable Black candidate comes forth, he has superiority over women, Latinos, and gays. This is their way of proving how open-minded they are, how intellectual they are, how accepting they are. White liberals love having Black friends on their arms…like trophies, to be paraded and shown off. So when a very charming and well spoken Black man came on the scene, Hillary did not have a chance. They didn’t care whether Obama had any experience whatsoever, just like they don’t care if their Black friend is a good person or not; they just want that trophy to show how liberal they are. It’s a game they play that sometimes gets blown wide open for the phony charade that it is….like Joe Biden saying Obama is “clean and articulate” and right away you know he’s a bigot! Except he’s not labeled as such by the media because he’s a liberal ! I have heard more bigoted remarks from liberals in my life than I have from conservatives. Yet they get a pass all day long. Obama was just on a higher plane in the hierarchy for the liberals than Hillary was. Now we’re all stuck with their trophy.
It’s not just Democrats and and the MSM that savaged Palin. The Republican party did its share. Remember that people from the campaign began the smear that she didn’t know if Africa was a continent or a country. The leadership of the Republican party is not a Palin fan, her support is grassroots. I suspect they’ll do to Palin what the Democrats did to Clinton, unless Palin can find a way to neutralize the party leadership.
Dick Morris is filth personified. His take on Hillary becoming SoS is…what? That Obama forced her into it to neutralize her and Bill? Nonsense. SoS is most likely what Clinton asked for at that private meeting at Dianne Feinstein’s house as reward for her support of Obama during the election. To stay in the Senate for Clinton was not an option. She knew that domestic policies were about to go down the toilet and if she had remained in the Senate she would only have two options: 1) do everything Obama says or 2) challenge him and suffer the wrath of all the other Dems and the media. By asking for the position of SoS she effectively removed herself from a domestic shitstorm where she could not possibly win. For the SoS position she made a number of demands, which Obama granted, including that she would have control over State Department staffing. At the time this was announced Chris Matthews screamed foul that Hillary was getting ready to run her own shadow government. Don’t forget several Obama loyalists, (like Greg Craig – once a Clinton friend who stabbed them in the back during the primaries), who were promised plum jobs inside the State, were summarily dismissed. Hillary, who is greeted like a rock star wherever she goes as SoS, got the job she wanted on her own terms. Morris, whose loathing of Hillary is Siegmund Freud’s wet dream, can squawk whatever he wants. Hillary got the job she wanted. And Bill Clinton’s global initiatives have not slowed down. His recent appointment as UN ambassador to Haiti, for example, is a direct rebuke of the “Clintons are racist” meme Obama and his campaign pushed during the primaries. And let us also not forget how the Clintons orchestrated the demise of Caroline Kennedy, Obama’s favorite to take over Hillary’s seat as NY Senator, as they placed their own choice, Kristen Gillibrand, into the seat. The rumors of the Clintons’ demise are greatly exaggerated.
About PUMAs: it was not the goal of PUMAs to elect McCain. PUMAs voted against Obama, whether it was for McCain or Nader or McKinney, or not voting at all. If you look at the final voting numbers you’ll see that if conservative Republicans had actually bothered to leave the house to vote for McCain (whom they did not like), Obama would likely have lost. PUMAs would only have made a difference if the Republican base supported their own candidate, but they did not. PUMAs were going to be the swing-voters of that election, but Republican voters dropped the ball.
“Filth personified” was a very, very large part of why the Clinton’s were successful.. I’m not going to argue because I know that’s hopeless but we’ll see what comes of it. My bet is Hillary and Bill are very dissatisfied and praying everyday for the tides to turn. They may make some small accomplishments, but for the most part taking that position ties their hands.
HI Afrocity – sorry I didn’t get back to your reply until now, but my damn cable connection was out for most of the afternoon and evening.
I’m afraid I didn’t make myself clear; PUMA was almost an afterthought on my part in my reply. Although it’s true that PUMA helped McCain – addition through subtraction if you will.
But my main point was – and I DO want to be clear about this, there is a SICKNESS within the Democratic Party. And I don’t think it stretches JUST to Hillary or Bill. I do think it runs to most women. I know that’s a blunt statement, but I do think it’s true.
I understand what Kathy Barkulis was saying in her reply about the hierarchy within the Democratic Party. Black, Female, Gay -and somewhere down the line the rock will meet the proverbial hard spot when the Dems try to account for Hispanics in their hierarcy and I’ll BET that it comes after Black and before Women. And the one thing Ms. Barkulis didn’t say (but I thought she didn’t say it because it is self-evident) is that #1 in that hierarchy is MEN. Men, Black, Women, Gay (and I think Gay Men over Lesbians). Look at the way Sarah Palin was treated by the “right hand” (no pun intended) of the Democratic Party – the MSM. As I said in my original comment, I think Palin was better qualified as the Executive Officer running America because she was the ONLY one of the four candidates with any actual administrative or governing experience. Foreign affairs? Maybe McCain, definetly NOT Biden – his foreign policy cred’s are based ENTIRELY on his sitting on his butt on the Foreign Affairs committee for a long time. Period. And Obama? No foreign policy creds AT ALL.
And – I say this with the confidence of an American History/Political Science Honors major who has studied American history and politics (and lived through about oh, 46 years of it as an “adult”) Americans historically, except in times of Declared War, always vote their pocketbooks. AND hardly anyone (except Poly Sci majors!) pays any real attention to who the hell the VP candidate is – Americans virtually ALWAYS vote for the top of the respective tickets.
So why all of the truly awful, horrendous vitriol about her in the MSM and among some “name” Democrats? Because she might (and apparently did) secure McCain with the Republican Conservative base? Doesn’t compute – the MSM and the Dems were not concerned about the Republican base, it’s because Sarah Palin is a WOMAN.
Is the GOP more pro-women? I don’t know for sure, but I do know that the first Female Supreme Court Justice (O’Connor) was appointed by Republicans; that Justice Ginsberg, in spite of what I personally, as a lawyer, thought were some questionable issues, sailed through the GOP controlled Senate; that the first Black Female Secretary of State (indeed as was the first Black Male Secretary of State, Colin Powell) Condi Rice was appointed by a Republican President? I don’t think there’s enough evidence yet concerning the GOP and Women – but what there is, is much more favorable than the Democrats. Even a “blue” state like Maine has two female REPUBLICAN senators. And yes, Dick Cheney DID say that whatever peoples’ sexual preference (adults, anyway) is their own business and virtually said “OK” to Gay Marriages, in no small part, I think, because he has a daughter who is a lesbian and that made him think BACK to the roots of Conservatism and a conservative GOP – we believe in Freedom. Especially Individual Freedom. And individual responsibility. I’ll “rant” someother time about the bogus degree of influence of the “Religious Right” has in the GOP and Roe v. Wade and of course on Gay Rights (which, btw although Bush the second wanted a constitituional amendement on Gay marriage, he ONLY wanted it because he KNEW that any such attempt at a contsitutional amendment would fail).
“I guess I have no respect for Barack Obama, or his wife. They have done nothing in their lifetimes on their own to deserve the credit they are getting. Their fortunes are the result of Chicago politics, and relationships with prominent whiners who hate what America stands for.”

John Cornyn, Democrat(?) and supporter of Obama??? When did that happen or am I missing something in the article?
Valorie, I don’t know who he is. I saw the pic and thought it was Howard Dean. Then Lana corrected me and said it was Cornyn from Texas.
