Media Insani-tea: Since When Has Barry Ever Turned Down A Party??? April 16, 2009

town-hall-2

Now that all the excitement of the tea parties have died down, we must analyze the important questions raised by effects of the gatherings. What did they accomplish? Did we see any new political themes or ideologies emerge?

Personally as someone who lives in a place that can be called Obamaland, I love the idea of all people but especially conservatives and independents gathering to voice their frustrations with our system of big government taxation and the current economic crisis. As I watched news coverage of the tea parties I felt not so alone in my conservative world anymore. I was suddenly invigorated after what seemed to be a long two years of punch drunk Kool Aid Obama campaign rallies. It was like Obama Seasonal Affective Disorder. What I did find troubling was the coverage of the tea parties by the MSM- mostly CNBC and CNN (I no longer watch those networks except to watch the Lou Dobb’s Show on CNN).

I did not attend a tea party but from what I have heard there were a wide range of participants from various political and racial backgrounds.

So why did the media assume that every tea party goer was “tea-bagging” and a right wing nut? What’s wrong? Only liberals can protest now? Have you seen Medea Benjamin from Code Pink?

Is this a Left Wing Nut???

Medea Benjamin. Is this a Left Wing Nut???

What happened to the media’s love of grassroots organizations and people speaking their minds? The MSM attempted to marginalize the gatherings by saying they were fueled by FOX NEWS and right wing radicals.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) got on the tea party hater bandwagon and denied that the tea parties were a grassroots movement:

This [tea party] initiative is funded by the high end — we call call it AstroTurf, it’s not really a grassroots movement. It’s astroturf by some of the wealthiest people in America to keep the focus on tax cuts for the rich instead of for the great middle class.

And since we are on the subject of liberal hypocrisy, where was our “Dear Leader” Barry Obama???
I thought Barry loved parties. I thought he was the “people’s president”. Barry loves the crowds and the adulation.

So where was Barry? He said he would listen to the voters. Wasn’t the tea party in Washington D.C. the perfect place for him to show up and take questions just like he does during those town hall meetings that he loves so much?
What’s wrong Obama?
Was our grassroots party not good enough for you?
I am sorry but we tried to get rapper Jay-Z to do a concert for us but he was too busy helping Chris Brown get through his court trial.

Something tells me that Barry did not show up to the tea parties because the crowds were not peppered with his adoring fans.

So much for accountability and transparency. 62 million people voted for John McCain. That is a lot of people that did NOT vote for Obama. I hate to break it to you President Obama, sometimes in life not everyone will like you. A real leader would have addressed those people and said something to show that you understand their issues.

(Crickets)

Meanwhile I leave you with a video clip from Keith Olberman lap dog Rachel Maddow. I had no idea that Rachel liked tea bagging so much.

MSNBC has lost all credibility in my opinion.

Nursing Foreign Aid Back to Health: Is Aid to Africa is “Dead”

(This post is dedicated to my conservative Texan friend Valorie- a very smart woman and great mom.)

Despite evidence to the contrary, the preponderant positive influence of America’s welfare state is still reported and encouraged by liberals. Concerning US foreign aid and relief programs, the quest for uniformity and evaluation of our efforts remains elusive and counterproductive as domestic aid. There is too an unexplained imbalance in mainstream media coverage of foreign aid having a stunting and negative impact upon its recipients.

During times of foreign crisis it is often the desire of the Western world to conform to political correctness and help the victims. Or so we would like to believe. We must act to lend a helping hand. That is our “duty”. Therefore we must face the inevitable task of dolling out money to foreign countries in order to positively affect the world social and cultural order and the lives of the citizens living therein. As with welfare programs in the United States, the question still remains whether or not this foreign aid is actually “aiding and abetting” the very social ailments it attempts to cure.

Dead Aid: Why aid is not working and how there is another way for Africa by Dambiso Moyo

In her book Dead Aid:Why Aid Is Not Working and How There Is a Better Way for Africa author Dambisa Moyo explains that the true intent of foreign aid to Africa is controversial and often undermining of its original goals. Judging from the book’s title, this will not be a welcomed read for liberal welfare state/government intervention enthusiasts or those who are afflicted with political correctness disorder. Moyo advocates that rather than treating foreign countries as welfare states, the West should instead offer proposals for developing countries to finance development and self efficiency in lieu of foreign dependence.

Moyo is a native of Africa. She was born in Zambia and holds a PhD. in Economics from Oxford University, a Masters from Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government. Moyo worked for Goldman Sachs for 8 years where she worked in the debt capital markets and as an economist in the global macroeconomics team.

I highly recommend this book and I wish it was required reading for Barack Obama and every member of Congress.

Here is also recent clip of Dambisa Moyo on Fox News.
